Yep, still putting their hand over womens' mouths, 35 years later.

This anonymous accuser needs to have the coursge to stand up for women or keep her mouth shut herself. This anonymous bullshit only hurts women.

+1 For all we know, she has a history of mental health issues. We have no idea. Anonymity won't work in this kind of situation.

Oh here we go again. If consensual sex doesn't work than she has mental problems. Whatever happened, she asked for this. Dress cut too low. Flirted and led him on. It's her fault. Every republican senator who refuses to investigate this is also guilty of rape.

Wrong.

Chances are she either didn't tell her parents, or she did but they advised her not to pursue it.

Chances are everyone at Prep and her school heard about it and she was teased about it for years (that's what happened to the local girls I knew).

Chances are this impacted her for decades.

Chances are she never shared all the gory details with her husband, and she definitely never told her kids.

Chances are she and her husband run in circles with people who like Kavanaugh and/or his pals, and their jobs and social life could be affected...as well as their kids' lives/friendships/school, etc.

Plenty of reasons to stay anonymous.

This. I am a member of this community and this is the truth.

It's going to be awful when, and I mean when, this woman's name is released against her will. It will get out as retribution. I hope she's prepared.

Rape? Just a tad bit hyperbolic there, Gloria.
This whole “scandal” is a delay tactic and an attempt to sully the reputation of a worthy candidate.

PP here. I was making a point. That's why anonymous accusations are meaningless. Just as bad to accuse a man of rape, attempted rape, etc with no confirmed basis. Can't believe you think that's okay.

+1 Exactly. But the Gloria Allred types think that's okay as long as the woman's reputation isn't sullied.

If she said "no" and he did not stop then it is attempted rape or rape. She said no so why should she be sullied?

We know none of that. We really don’t *know* if any of what has been made public actually happened.
We are being asked to believe an anonymous person who has said nothing for over 30 years. And this, after a slew of antics by the left to stop this nomination.
Very sketchy. Many of us remain unconvinced.

And if she said "no" and he DID stop, then there's no problem. He deferred to her wishes. Unless the liberals are now claiming he raped someone. Is that the latest?

Yet she said he and his friend turned up the music so people couldn’t hear her protests, and she had to “escape.”

So the idea that she said no and he complied is not among the strong possibilities of what actually happened.

Seems to be. Remember Schumer said “whatever it takes.”

According to some anonymous and possibly fictitious person.

Not only do you think it’s okay to spread rumors that Kavanaugh sexually assaulted someone in high school but now you want to spread rumors that it’s standard behavior for boys at like Landon and Prep to sexually assault girls. Good grief, you are sick. And no, I’m not associated with either of those schools in any way. And I’m a moderate registered Democrat who feels like she’s lost her party.

It’s not rumors, it is allaegations. Perhaps you should actually read the article.

“Allegations” made by some anonymous person who curiously has come out of the woodwork after 30 years. And it doesn’t even sound like she is alleging something illegal. A boy tried to kiss me in high school!!!

Yep. I remember something similar happening to me at that age. I'm not about to dredge it up now, 30 yrs. later. This is beyond idiotic.

Maybe you should. It sounds like you still have some open psychological wounds that haven't healed.

There needs to be far more nuanced view here. A single incident from 30+ years ago should not destroy anyone's life, whether male or female. Being a Democrat, I am no fan of Judge K or of how the Republican Senate treated Garland. I no doubt would vote against him if I were a Senator. But everybody has gone too far here. There is a huge difference between what we think Judge K did today, what Bill did over decades, and then what Donald did over decades. Huge range of behaviors. I do not where the line is, but it is not at zero. Take the Duke lax scandal. As it turns out, the boys did not do what everybody was screaming about. But what is acknowledged is that a college lax team hired a stripper for a team party. That itself is inappropriate, though not illegal. The screaming around that scandal was overblown, and ignored what we know really happened.

Oh look, another one of those "I'm a Democrat but..." posts.

We all know you're a pro- Kavanaugh shill so just cut the crap. An attempted sexual assault is no comparison to hiring a stripper for a party - don't even try to justify it.

My DH went to one of these schools in the early 80's, and partied with this crowd when Prep was known to be the worst of the worst. We know a woman who was approached to sign the "good character" letter and refused. Kavanaugh was the quiet, smart guy who hung back, but watch out when he was drinking. At Yale he was part of drunk boys frat. I have no doubt that other women have stories about him.

And presumably you would have voted not only to impeach Bill but to convict Bill. Same with Franken? What about Ellison from MN? Same? BTW. I am local as well (Big 3) and knew/know many GP guys. And what about the "mean" girls who mistreat their classmates? How should that behavior affect their careers, 30 years later? What about the high school kid who "borrowed" something from a store in a single incident? Or forgot to pay for my drinks at a bar? Get real! Frankly, someone who has done nothing stupid or wrong over 30 plus years would worry me more.

DP. So you're not really a Democrat, you were just posing as one?

Sounds like just another Trump troll trying to pretend attempted sexual assault is the same thing as mean girl behavior or shoplifting.

Nope. I am a confirmed Democrat. Voted Democratic in over 95%, in all elections. Occasional $ contributor to Democrats. Federal and state. Most everybody who knows me knows that I am a Democrat. Worked on a few D campaigns. Sorry. My question is should Bill have been convicted in the Senate? What he did was far worse and lasted for decades. Should Franken have resigned? And what about Senator Kennedy? What we know NOW about Judge K is that he did something stupid in high school. There is no even allegations NOW that, unlike Bill or even Donald, this behavior was regular and ongoing, whether physical or verbal. I ask again what about the "mean" girl treatment that daughters of my friends have received around town. And I know that some of the girls that moved in these same circles with Judge K fell into that "mean" character. Sorry. I was in those circles. Attended 2 of Big 5.

Mean girl behavior is not the same as sexual assault. You get that, right?

So, you would have convicted Bill, Franken, Kennedy?? You are avoiding the question. There is a line. We can debate that line, but there is a line. Personally, absent more info, I am not obsessed about this single incident, 30 years ago. Separately, I would still vote against Judge K if I were a Senator, for other non-character reasons.

Franken didn't lure a girl into a bedroom and assault her. He took a picture that alluded to sexual contact...but he didn't actually touch her. And the conservative operative who alleged inappropriate kissing during a consensual, staged bit during a show should never have been taken seriously.

Yes, Ted got into a terrible wreck due to his own negligence and left a girl to die. He should have served time for that. He got a free pass because of his family name and power. Kinda like Kavanaugh. I think he got a free pass just like the other rich asshat jocks at Prep, Gonzaga, GC and SJC I knew back in the day who raped girls for fun at keg parties back in the day.

And you think Kennedy's women issues were limited to that one car crash. Get real. Senator K was known all over town for his adventures. He was not the only one. But a huge difference remains between what Judge K did in a single incident in high school and what many of the men being exposed now did. The latter continued that behavior for decades, well into the 2010s. Weinstein, Trump, Moonvees, Fox men, other media types. Be careful. Many created a storm after the Duke lax party, and ended up with nothing to show. The fact is that, as everybody would agree, the Duke lax team exercised terrible judgment in hiring a stripper, and that in and of itself should have been the focus. Instead, the hysteria created at the time, and the resulting FACTs, allowed that entire episode to have been ignored. Focus on the FACTs. Not every incidence is a scandal.

That's fine if you remain unconvinced. You obviously never went to a local party with boys from area catholic high schools. But those of us who did either personally experienced such things or know girls who did. So I'm sure you can understand why we are apt to believe that this is totally within the realm of possibility. This was a regular occurrence on Friday and Saturday nights back in the day.

And then even if you hadn't been at the party, you heard about it. This was back in the prehistoric days long before smartphones, so we relied on word of mouth. The guys would brag about it...because they thought it was funny and cool. They were heroes. And the girl who was dragged into a room and pinned down was labeled a slut...by everyone...including other girls (she should have known better, what did she expect would happen, why did she drink that much, why didn't she scream (she did, but nobody helped), etc.).

Interestingly, this was rampant in the catholic school party scene, but not in the public school scene. I had friends in both, and I went to all kinds of parties. I think some of these privileged boys were led to believe they were entitled to certain things, and I think they lived in the worst kind of frat boy environment even before they went off to college.

I'm the poster you are debating.

Guess what? I never for one second believed the stripper who accused the Duke lax players. Why? Because I knew local white lax players (and football players, etc.) who ended up at Duke and similar colleges, and I had no doubt in my mind that they would have any interest in having sex with a stripper let alone a black woman. Period.

The high school rapists never targeted easy girls. They targeted virgins. Nobody wanted a disease. They were very calculating when it came to rape.

Nice anecdote. And it convinces me even more that this story is a bunch of hogwash.
This “victim” was likely privy to the culture you detailed. What better way to convince DC liberals than by creating a story that many of you experienced?
What are the names of all the other “victims” of Kavanaugh that have come forward? Oh, that’s right. There are none.
IOW - this is totally out of character for Kavanaugh and too convenient to be believed.
