Tariffs are pure extortion schemes for both countries and companies.

It's fascinating how they keep referring to it as the Somali scandal.

The person MOST responsible for the daycare scandal was born and raised in Minnesota. Her name is Aimee Bock. Her job started as training people who wanted to open daycares. I suspect she started as a kind of white savior sort of person who became pathological. News articles report the Somalian community (which is not even ethnically Somalian, they are descended from Tanzanian Bantu who were sold as slaves to Somalian people, were slaves into the early 1900s, and were thenceforth subjected to discrimination before they were driven out of regions where they ended up settling, by warring Somali clans--in that respect, they are similar to the Nepalese who became refugees when driven out by Bhutan after a couple of centuries living there). She recruited them, she took administrative fees from their food program claims, and she helped fill out those claims. I'm not saying the 50 or so Somalians who were either convicted at trial or pled guilty were blind as to what they were involved with, but Bock was the one who knew the ropes, knew the system, and went so far as to go to court and successfully win a court order to force the state to keep sending payments. The majority of Somalians pled guilty, and many have expressed deep regret for what they did. Bock turned against them at trial, claiming they had deceived her.

By the way, EIDL and PPP loan fraud connected to Covid programs amounted to around 200 billion dollars. Currently, rightwing America First activists are pursuing a qui tam action against a Minnesota Republican legislator for PPP loan fraud.

By my (conservative) estimate, the Biden administration used its limited parole authority to funnel more than 2.8 million facially inadmissible (read: “illegal”) aliens into the United States.

That’s more people than reside in 15 U.S. states, and a recent Government Accountability Office report found that many of the programs Biden’s DHS relied upon to parole them were riddled with fraud.

In all honesty, I’m not sure whether the senators and congressmen who voted to pass the Laken Riley Act understood just how sweeping the changes in that law were. Regardless, it would bind the hands of a future Gavin Newsom administration if it attempted to repeat many of the immigration blunders of Biden-Harris.

They have smashed out the windows of cars driven by people who happened to be near an operation and sprayed tear gas or pepper spray into the faces of citizens, including babies. They lie: in Idaho, local police who did assist ICE admit to the zip-tying of children; ICE has denied this happened. There is a woman from Maryland, a citizen, who has been detained and transferred to a detention center in Lousiana to prepare for deportation. She is a US citizen by birth; ICE claims her birth certificate and other documents that her family has provided are fake. When they detain people, they deliberate move them from one center to another hundreds of miles away to force attorneys to spend precious time and money searching for their clients rather than pursue legal remedies. Trump has made a clear ethnic cleansing statement when he said he would like to get rid of ALL Somalians, period, even though the majority are actually citizens.

There is no way to rationalize or justify this. Putting lipstick on a pig doesn't begin to explain how much is wrong with what is going on.

What Biden and the Democrats did opening the borders to millions of unvetted illegal immigrants was the affront to the citizenry of the nation. Statistically, immigrants in the US are less likely to break laws than the native born. Precisely because they don't want scrutiny from police. All data backs this, despite MAGA constantly demonizing immigrants as murderers and rapists. Also, the data shows that the overwhelming majority of people being deported by Noem and Homan's ICE don't even have so much as a parking ticket to their names.

We were promised deportation of gang members and violent criminals but the overwhelming majority of the deportees are nothing of the kind.
