Americans aren't interested in paying for Trump's wall. He specifically said Mexico would pay for it. This is a campaign promise that simply can't be fulfilled regardless of what may be built on the border.
If he had mentioned that his proposed wall would be paid for via taxes, he would have never received the nomination let alone win the presidency. It's just more fraud from a lifelong huckster.

I don't want my hard-earned tax money going towards a stupid wall that doesn't actually address the issues with illegal immigration. I would support my money going towards prosecuting employers who hire undocumented people. I'd also support programs that help Central Americans in their own country (education, birth control, trade programs, etc.). If we lift up our neighbors we are all better off.

Or he could have negotiated and got 1 billion a year and given other people some of what they want for the last two years and he could be on his third billion this year. He's bad at politics. +1 The GOP prioritized tax cuts for billionaires over wall funding. Neither are good things, but they could have pushed it through if they wanted to. But they didn't because the wall is a waste of money.
