New Fairfaxtimes article out. Apparently Thompson getting sent to Gatehouse
https://www.fairfaxtimes.com/articles/hayfield-principal-out-fails-up-to-fcps-headquarters-south-county-whistleblower-football-coach-ousted/article_070181cc-e000-11ef-9a3e-1b7e8ac8d0e6.html |
“It’s classic FCPS. A failed administrator fails up,” said one longtime staff member. “No accountability. Just push the problem somewhere else and act like it never happened.” |
This deal is disgusting. Thompson will still be employed by FCPS even if no longer at Hayfield, and the Thompson fanatics exacted their revenge by getting the successful South County coach fired for criticizing Thompson.
Michelle Reid should be removed from her position immediately. Every single decision she makes is bad. |
These people called it. Shame on FCPS. |
They fired one of the whistleblower coaches but Overton and all his lackeys still have fulltime fcps jobs at hayfiels. |
Signs of a failing school system failing again. Just like over in MoCo. |
Dayyyyyyuummm! I’m happy the article highlighted his failures as a Principal, as they relate to areas that are not football. It’s been obvious to me since day 1 at the school. Actually, I never saw him in-person and I have attended a lot of school events. Says a lot about how much he cares for all students. (sarcasm) |
The alert just posted on Hayfield’s home page:
Dr. Darin Thompson Remains Principal of Hayfield Secondary School Please disregard the erroneous reports that have been circulating throughout the Hayfield community. As confirmed by FCPS Human Resources and a matter of public record, Dr. Darin Thompson remains the principal of Hayfield Secondary School. |
Remains is doing a lot of work there. Doesn’t even say he will serve out the school year. |
They didn’t fire anyone. Some coach who publicly made some racially insensitive comments fulfilled his contract and wasn’t asked to come back. That was the right thing to do. After those comments, he’s gonna have to find a sundown town to coach. |
His comments were not racist. |
True, I have to believe that although the Fairfax Times reporter can be problematic, that an article like that was based on some kind of facts. I wonder if Thompson still has access to post on the school's website, and maybe he posted that alert as a reaction? What a mess. |
Nothing he said was racially insensitive. But they were 100% factual. Overton basically grooms these kids and their families. He even has coaches who give drugs to minors. |
