Consider this guy has been sick for how long? We would be seeing a lot more infected and in the hospital and we are not. |
2 week incubation period. 80% of cases are mild and won’t go to the hospital. Unless we are really lucky (we are not) there are at least 5 more cases that are mild to get one in critical. If he dies it’s likely there are at least 50 other infected individuals. And that’s just the first round of infections. That first round will have infected others that are only not exiting incubation. |
No, it's not the same issue. The Trump administration is totally f'ing this up. It looks like they are deliberately avoiding testing anyone for COVID so they can say there are no cases. That would fit with the fact that Trump just wants this to magically go away. I'm hopeful they can right the ship now, but Trump has the maturity and patience of a toddler so at some point he's going to lose it. |
A tour guide becomes the first Japan to test positive twice.
11:19 am: Tour-bus guide in Japan tests positive for a second time A woman working as a tour-bus guide in Japan tested positive for the virus for a second time, according to Osaka’s prefectural government. She is said to be the first person in the country to do so. https://www.cnbc.com/2020/02/27/coronavirus-live-updates-imf-world-bank-may-hold-meetings-remotely.html |
There are no cases yet. This is preventive talk. Parents can minimize risk NOW without a dent. They can bring it home-faster then kids now. So nothing is better now? No warrant to stop everything, telecommute is just a simple measure. |
I’m a daycare worker. What usually happens when the federal government calls for telework or liberal leave is people bring their kids to daycare and go back home to work. It doesn’t matter if it’s a sheet of ice outside. People will risk life and limb to get their kids out of the house for the day. I fully expect if quarantines start, I will be caring for kids when we would all be safer at home. |

"No known contact with infected individual" They have no way of knowing this except for the patient's word. And that person has no idea either. |

Thus the words “no known”. |
Exactly. How is this person supposed to know if they encountered one or the many people in the US that is supposed to be under self quarantine? Or sat next to someone on an airplane who had been in China. Not everyone who has been in China is Chinese. |
Which tells you nothing. Remember when the woman in Germany wasn't sick but spread it, then, oops! She was symptomatic? That's what's going on here/ |
How many people would lie rather than be restricted in their movements? Many. |
... Patient is intubated and on vent so I doubt he has said much of anything. It probably just means that he hasn't been to Asia recently and, as far as his family knows, he hasn't been hanging out with anyone with the virus. I'd be curious what his job is...if he works in a big S.F. hotel, that's pretty different from a situation where he works in a vineyard, or in an office in Sacramento. |
