Hayfield Football Coach Fired

Athletic directors should be concerned with playing by the rules, displaying proper character, and the student athletes having a meaningful and positive experience. If a coach is meeting those requirements there is no need to make a change.

Regarding Thompson, you heard it here first. He will be sent to West Springfield to be their new Principal. Just wait and see.

Your second paragraph negates any attention I’d pay to the first. That is not happening. Thompson is damaged goods, and West Springfield parents are not wallflowers.

I think it can be hard for student athletes to have a positive experience when they know other teams with less talent regularly win because they have a better coach. Our AD is a nice guy but he’s rather lazy and doesn’t want to have to tell an existing coach it’s past time to find a replacement.

I'm not saying it will happen but it could. To be fair, the parents have little to no say. I imagine the Hayfield parents wanted Thompson, Overton and Fritts out. Fritts was the only one to leave, first preemptively it appears, then officially fired. The other two were not forced out.

The official FCPS line is Thompson did nothing wrong. They have no reason to publicly consider him "damaged goods"

Exactly. People here act as if this hasnt been happening in basketball for 20+ years. I will say trying this in football is a lot harder. In this area only St Francis has been able to make it work. Several others have failed.

How is Saint Frances similar? Isn’t it a regular catholic school where boys where ties and go to class all day?

Yep, it is. Someone is just trying to take a petty swipe at Biff/SFA. It's a legit school and even the football players are held to high academic standards.

It wasn't a swipe at SFA. The swipe would be at National Christian, Rock Creek, Life Christian etc. I clearly said they are the ONLY people that have made it work. I was showing that St James has an uphill battle. I hope they make it but I'm not placing any money on it working out.

Apostle Karen is batshit crazy. Does anyone else see the bullshit she spouts on social media?

Oh yes, I have. She is certifiable. Sadly, there are folks just like her all over our society. In government, business, professional sports, public education, the military, the church,…you name it. It’s been my experience that usually, they
sooner or later cross a line, and “the crazy” becomes their undoing.

In their district they can be pretty bad and still win games. The baseline participation level at Hayfield is much higher than at Freedom.

I hope they bring back Coach Aziz

I also hope they bring back coach Aziz.

Even if you could put the rampant cheating aside, I find it odd that The St. James would knowingly hire a coach whose judgement is so bad that said coach allowed individuals on his sideline who gave drugs to minors.

Aziz should only return if Thompson is fired or moved. Hayfield is garbage now.

I would reach out to TSJ and fill them in. Maybe they have not been following along. People who don't have kids at FCPS or who have young kids might not be paying attention. Did you all notice that Apostle Karen changed her STJ profile pic and her title is gone? Hmmmm.....

She really is and she spews out paragraphs of bullshit and pats herself on the back. The arrogance and vanity is unreal. How do people not see through it?

Oh- I am sure they know.

He’s on their website for the St. James academy. Which is like a sports academy with academics via Virginia virtual - so it’s sports + virtual high school.

Essentially- it’s going to be the IMG of VA. And with zero school boundaries or ethical oversight, it’s going to be a juggernaut.

Stop with that. They know. You think employers don't vet their hires at all??? A 2 second Google search on his name brings up a mountain of information on the Hayfield scandal. Plus, their business is youth sports - you think they really haven't heard about everything that went down? They know who he is and are banking on all of his rabid fan base to follow him to STJ. And they either don't care or are naive to the notion that in 1-3 years, he'll screw them over too and leave them worse off than they are now.

Juggernaut with one field that they have to share with STJ's other money making programs.

A close friend of mine works at TSJ, they know exactly what they're getting.
