Would guess part of Overton contract hiring was Overton naming the kids/families that he can bring for free membership- so the kids from Freedom can continue training with him for free there. Leaving Hayfield was the move everyone saw coming and if FCPS fired, would have been lawsuit. This is least cost option. Now just question of if see principal moved to Gatehouse at end of school year.

No way is TSJ giving away spots for free.
They are FOR PROFIt.

The St James doesn't have a football field.

They can't get permits to use HS football fields.

Where are they going to train.

The STJ academy was formed because of a pissing match IMO. VA Revolution (soccer club in Loudoun) who also booted STJ out of the fields they used for their Academy teams formed a 'school' and then STJ formed one.

Huge word of warning to anybody that wants to buy in on this, for years STJ had a pretty successful soccer program on the girls side and made promises for YEARS that they would actually build a dedicated facility for them to use and it NEVER came to fruition essentially collapsing their high level soccer programming.

They can hire whoever they want to hire but it's going to be a stretch for them to actually build a home base with fields for them to use. Where are they going to hold practice and games? I can't think of any solid options.

These private online schools for sports are popping up everywhere. Huge in the basketball world, tons of kids doing a second yesr of fake 8th grade to reclass and then go back to public with a huge advantage.

So i imagine kids do a year here doing skills training then transfer out to a regular school with a real team

Maybe it's just that, but if they're trying to put a program together similar to what IMG does, that's a MASSIVE stretch.

IMG has dedicated facilities.

TSJ can't even get Fairfax County permits for football fields b/c not having a rec league and being For-Profit puts them last on the list and the fields are taken before they ever get down that far on the list.

Many are schools where a kid can reclass. I’ve seen kids do go to reclass, then continue until they get to a place they can compete on the high school level

With how they're advertising tryouts for HS ages, it seems like the plan is to actually field a team.

They want that $100 tryout fee from as many as they can get. PME does the same thing.

A $100 tryout fee is insane

The 30 For 30 episode on the corruption of youth sports is going to be riveting

He really is just a less talented version of Stu Vetter. Now that he has moved on to private entities that cannot rely on the government to keep them afloat I am curious to see what happens...wouldn't be surprised if it was a football version of Harker Prep unless there are some VERY well-heeled boosters involved.

They want to be.

Not with those folks at the helm they don't want to be a school. Just looked up their academic staff. There are three listed. Of them one, Tere Hernandez-Acosta received her "education" from Nova Southeastern University and her last job was with Total Package Hockey. Another, Michelle Steiner who was fired from her most recent job at Marymount. They don't want to be a school. They want to be an IMG without the field space or deep pockets.

Too bad HF kids are left holding the bag. I haven't heard anything otherwise, but I assume the 2-year ban on post-season play will apply for next season.

Additionally, the way Coach Aziz and Erin Crowley were handled was atricious. The kids lost people who had connections to and cared for the school in favor of an interloper and thoughts of a HIGH SCHOOL football championship. As is typical in this situation, the kids are the primary casualties in all of this.

Membership fees at The Saint James about to skyrocket to.cover all the "scholarships."

Is Overton taking the Hayfraud principal with him to St James? How on earth does that guy still have a job with FCPS?
