Summer pool rules

I’m in NoVA. It will be interesting to see how state applies new CDC guidance in regards to outdoor pools.

As I read the two EOs, it appears that all of the distancing requirements applicable to pools will drop on 5/28 with the second EO. However, the 10 ft rule is still in place until then (it was re-stated in the first EO)-- which is, of course, totally crazy. It seems unlikely that there would be any external enforcement of that rule in the next two weeks though.

I can’t help but be skeptical. Articles I’ve read say “all” and then in the same breath say “Employees in certain sectors — including restaurants, retail, fitness, personal care, and entertainment — must continue to wear masks unless fully vaccinated under the CDC guidance” which makes me wonder what else won’t fall under “all”, or what else will be specified that isn’t cited in the news articles. I half expect distancing in pools to stay because someone at the VDH pictures pools as “crowded” and children under 12 won’t be vaccinated.

Has a new EO with details been published? I haven’t found it.

there are no details. There are no further restrictions come May 28th (other than mask wearing for the unvaccinated). It will be a recission of the EO, not a new EO.

Our MoCo pool is requiring us to sign up for sessions again and is closing 5x a day for cleaning — meaning everyone out of pool area and grounds. Are others doing this?

No, but I am on NoVA.

Maybe your pool will change their rules. The guidance only recently changed. I’m on our club’s board and while we aren’t planning reservations we had planned on staying under the state’s 75%?capacity cap, posting 6’ distancing on deck and 10’ on the water. We haven’t met yet to discuss how the nee guidance affects operations and honestly I’m not sure how it applies to pools.

Our MoCo pool is not. The only difference I can see from pre and post Covid is that they aren’t going to have any of the large holiday potlucks that we had in the before times. They mentioned social distancing on the deck, but that was before the decision that the county will no longer have any Covid restrictions as of opening day. They also had held off on a mask policy because they were waiting to see how guidance would change before the season opens, so I don’t know if there is even going to be social distancing or a mask requirement at our pool.

Ours opened like that a couple of weeks ago but is increasing capacity as of tomorrow and will drop sign up for midweek. I presume they will drop it for weekends also when capacity limits are removed in two weeks.

well capacity limits and distancing don't apply after May 28th. We haven't announced yet but our pool is dropping all covid restrictions- I fully expect all pools will do the same. I don't know how you justify capacity limits or telling people to stay apart when there is no such state mandate.

PP here. We haven’t changed yet, but I’m sure we will once we meet for our board meeting as long as that’s what the state is allowing.

Nope, that was last year's protocols. We are an open pool and masks for the unvaccinated.

I know there is still some skepticism on this. It seems like bard members are used to having the screws tightened over the past year that they are waiting to be told specifically that they can lift these precautions

Our board president says nothing is going to change with our current plans until we see the new rules.
