Summer pool rules

Ours was incredibly restrictive last summer with people only allowed in a reserved area so there was no socializing.

Yep - back to normal - no restrictions at all.

This seems ridiculous to me given all the restrictions will be lifted the weekend the pool opens. (And everyone over 12 who is unvaccinated just gets a pass but little kids all have to wear masks?)

this must be your HOAs rule - not NV pools

I can't get over the absurdity of making small children put a mask on, walk into the pool, and take the mask off. It's outside.

Agree. This masking at pool for children is so stupid. Where does the mask go when they are in the pool? They will have to walk across the pool deck to get from their chairs to the pool unmasked, so why the charade (of masking outdoors) of a mask for a small child who is the population most likely to not wear it correctly anyway?

We have NV. That’s definitely not NV’s rule.

Use masks in bathrooms, give people space but no other rules/restrictions related to Covid. This in in VA.

Montgomery County neighborhood pool:
No reservations needed for general pool use. Guests allowed. Swim and dive seasons will be mostly normal.

Reservations are needed for the lap lanes but that policy was in the works before Covid - those guys are just weird and territorial.

My opinion - our vaccination rate is probably around our precinct's vote for Biden (90%)

Our Arlington swim team sent out a message outlining upcoming changes (not much from the pool management/board yet). There will only be self enforced mask restrictions, even for unvaccinated kids. No one will enforce masks but they recommend following cdc guidance. A lot of the social events are returning, all outside. They’ll be big on prepackaged foods vs prepared on site (weird). I think they’re just trying to keep people out of the clubhouse, where buffet type meals usually happen.

There will be no attempts to contact trace in case of COVID+ members, outside of what the health dept does. Reservations are going away with the possible exception of a few lanes in the lap pool. No capacity restrictions for swim practices or meets.

Tossing up my inflatable pool again this year and passing on the expensive membership for lots of rules. We'll re-evaluate next year.

It's right out back. I can float on a raft, eat and drink what I want, and it's open whenever I want it to be.

Our nova pool has zero restrictions except unvaccinated still have to wear masks. Why the government has to continue that for kids OUTSIDE makes no sense to me.

Because no one thinks about kids at all.
They make these rules thinking the stick will make people go get vaccinated without thinking through that they are punishing kids without the option and who aren’t at risk if they catch covid.

VA does not require masks for those who are unvaccinated.

Yep. And usually hoa people are old boomers with free time who don’t care about kids.

The HOA at our pool are like this. There was a dawn Master's swim class - cancelled b/c it was too loud (swimming is loud for a group of a dozen or less adults). They complained about swim practice, swim meets, once/week parking issues due to meets, everything . . . . it's ridiculous.
