This is also a good idea. |
Military disqualifies based on a bunch of mental health disorders. Should be the same for gun ownership. |
|
If you have a depressed family member, PLEASE get all guns out of your home.
I realize that these boys got the gun on their own...but it is a reminder that families can try to keep weapons out of their loved one's hands (though of course, US society needs to do much more as well, in this regard). Voting for democrats is a start people. |
How about driving a car? And voting? And being allowed to have a credit card? It's a slippery slope and there's no real reason to have such a large population of people on it when the actual predictors of violence are so much more fine-grained than "was the person diagnosed with a mental illness or not?". |
It's not the gun or knife, it's mental illness or pure evil. They simply find another weapon, or way to kill them. |
LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
.....and the knives, hammers, poison, crow bar, brick, fire poker, and for heavens sake pad the stairs!!! Oh and make sure there's no gas in the car so they can't run you over! |
| This just supports my argument of no guns, for anyone, ever. With all of the weapons mentioned above by PP, the victims would have had a fighting chance to defend themselves. |
The strangest thing about America. Hell no, you can't fire military grade weapons for us and kill foreign enemies. Hells yes, you can own your own version of the military grade weapons with no training.

somehow I don't see this supreme court doing anything other than laughing at that idea (assuming you could convince state legislatures to pass it) |
Well, military does it, so we are on the slippery slope already. |
Right, it will never happen - because of the gun lobby and the gun culture in this country. Not because it's a bad idea. |
Before the invention of rapid-reload guns it took actual militias and armies to kill with the same level of destruction as one person with one assault rifle can do today. The Mandalay Bay shooter mowed down over 800 people. That is just not possible with a knife, hammer, poison, crow bar, brick, fire poker, a car, or stairs. |
No way they manage to kill their entire family with a knife. Without anyone escaping or disarming him. Please. |
Besides, all the objects you listed have a different primary purpose. Weapons are made to kill. No other purpose, no other use. |
