Is "sugar" a thing in DMV upper class?

Are you one of them?

Where did you meet these friends? College? Grow up together? At work? I'm wondering what i the common denominator. I'm also in my 40s and higher income level (lawyers) and I don't know anyone doing this.
And what are the demographics of their wives? Equivalent education and income level to your friends? I just can't imagine in my social circles the wives not noticing a substantial financial outlay.

Some I've know for years, some more recent. Eveyone in my circle is college educated and usually a masters. Wives tend to be career types also.

When you have a high HHI, no one is noticing $1-2k every month. Besides, you usually have a bunch of different accounts and credit cards at that level. No one has time to dig through all that.

$1-2k a month? That’s it?!?

Remember college girls aren't doing it for a living. Your typical GW student (GW is #1 in the DC area in terms of % of undergrads who do this) has all her tuition and room and board covered by her parents. This is fun money to buy fancy clothes, and also just fun to go out with someone mature and wealthy.

Umm just get a real job, then. You can’t find a job that will pay you $250 a week? Willing to lose your dignity and have sex with an old guy... eww. I was poor in college and worked my way through an Ivy. No way would I consider $1-2k a month to have sex with a guy in his 40s. No one I knew would have done it either. Just yuck.

What about for 5k tho?

And it doesn't take up too much time. No 20/hours a week

I did because I was cooking this morning and ended up with an extra spoonful of granulated sugar that I didn't want to put back into the bin, because it might have a tiny bit of flour in it. I just popped that heaping teaspoon into my mouth. Wow. So delicious. Such a fun childhood memory.

I absolutely recommend it if you haven't done it for a while.

As to your topic; I have never known anyone involved in such an arrangement. No one I associate with has the money to do it. I assume it is a rich person/TV thing.

Ha hahaa... I remember once doing this with my friend when we were little.. this was so awkward.. but fun.. also far far memory...
I can't imagine binge on sugar but one time is an experience.

male 40s high income, 12yrs married, two kids. not much marital sex but otherwise nice marriage. i use sugar to satisfy a need and ease the resentment at home. i can be a good husband while getting my needs met in a NSA arrangement that has little chance of getting ugly (no real emotional entanglements) .. DW and I haven't discussed this but I think she may suspect this because she knows I have always been as horny as fkc at the same time I don't think we are technically DADT either. sugar is also much safer and less "eww" than going for the real pros (hookers, happy ending massages etc) .... plus in the DC area the sugar babies are generally collage girls (educated) and "interesting" outside of the few mins of sex.

If you really believe this is as justified as you try to pretend, you would not rationalize so much. The eww factor of this is off the charts. Apart from the infidelity/lying/diverting family funds, you are taking advantage of an unbalanced power dynamic that you pointed out in your post - these are college students! They are not independent adults with fully formed brains and the ability to really appreciate the arrangement they are in. I posted up thread that my DD’s friend - who is a smart college sophomore at a local university- is a sugar baby. I’m sure she doesn’t tell her sugar daddies that her parents pay her tuition and support her. She has a number of mental health issues and I suspect is attracted to the drama of the situation. Her friends are concerned and have tried to get her to put an end to it, with no luck yet. Men like you are doing a lot of damage. Think about whether you would want your DD in the same situation.

+1. 40s guy, what do you say about this?

How do you know they aren't getting intimacy from other relationships? Seems like the simply answer is they get to experience sex with a young, hot woman for money they don't need. Whats the har

To each his own I guess. I wrote the quoted and I'm female so maybe that colors it. Two of them are divorced because they did this when they were married and got caught. So divorced and paying women for sex.

One is a confimed bachelor so it's what he gives himself time for outside of his career.

The divorced ones have daughters the same age, as do I and besides the fact that you wouldn't want your children to know, you wouldn't want your daughter to do it and it just seems yucky. They're still my friends since we bonded many years ago and obviously they feel comfortable with me knowing so I don't overtly judge but it doesn't appear emotionally rewarding. They can all well afford it so at least there's no negative financial impact.

Never sugared in my life but say the sugar is taking in $2K/month from some schmuck. She's probably meeting with him, at most, 4-5 times a month at a rate of 2-3 hours a week.

For that same amount of money you want her to go work at Starbucks for 35 hours a week and be yelled at by moms in strollers whose iced venti double macchiato had too many iced cubes?

Please.

I'm in my 40s and have a college GF who does it for free.

There are entire websites with thousands of young women willing to "Lose their dignity" for $$. What the sugar baby trend and the OnlyFans trend show is that many young women are willing to trade their sexuality for $$. They have grown up in an era where casual sex "hooking up culture", kink and the like is acceptable. LGBT lifestyles even polyamory are seen as acceptable expressions of one's gender/sexuality. Sex workers are acceptable and should not be stigmatized. Porn is ubiquitous. Given these trends, it is not surprise that many young women are willing to be sugar babies.
Your "yuck" reactions sounds like something from the 20th century. I'm not saying your wrong, maybe society would be better off with 20th century attitudes towards sex.
A question for the pp who said "yuck", why is one's dignity lost if they have freely choose to have sex for money?

My father was a diabetic and I remember putting sugar on any cuts he got on his fingers to stop the bleeding... you just reminded me of that childhood memory. 😊

It's not hard being a sugar daddy if you're wealthy. I make almost $400k a year. My home is $5k mortgage and I have two weekend homes. One in Southern Maryland on the water and one in the Shenandoah Valley in the mountains. I can easily pay $5k to $10k a month for a young attractive girl. But, in the end it's the same as dating. Sugar daddy and dating are the same. It's just one is PREDEFINED by money.

I realize this is s/o, but aren’t the cash and gifts taxable to the recipient? Highly doubt they think about such things beforehand. It would be funny if the IRS started inquiring and busted some of these arrangements lol.

Yup. I know a fair number of current and former sugar babies. It’s dating. And the girls break up with SDs who are too demanding or annoying.

I want to add a small addendum to your post -- it's not just young women; lots of young men do it, too (not on the same scale as young women, too). Mainly young gay men, but I wouldn't be surprised if there are a few straight guys in the mix with sugar mommas.
