Is "sugar" a thing in DMV upper class?

Anonymous
I had several offers in my 20s but I mostly just found them kind of pathetic. I did convince one to hire me for a real job though.

I did date some older/wealthy guys but like a PP said they don’t want to be seen in public with you. They were divorced but super paranoid about other parents they knew seeing them and gossiping or whatever. Which I get, because that would probably impact their kids.

Overall though I’ve found it WAY easier to just make my own money than rely on a man for it. Don’t have to deal with the whining and demands.

The problem here in DC is that the women are just as educated as the men. Catches them off guard.

Oh yeah I remember reading about this guy. He looks like a cross between a caveman and dumbo. Hope he serves a long sentence.

Was gonna reply with:

"Well, we make north of 300K and have BMIs of 18, 20, and 21, and have a steady stream of Coke products, Ding Dongs, and Twizzlers in the house. Get in, losers."

This made me lol. Thanks, PP.

male 40s high income, 12yrs married, two kids. not much marital sex but otherwise nice marriage. i use sugar to satisfy a need and ease the resentment at home. i can be a good husband while getting my needs met in a NSA arrangement that has little chance of getting ugly (no real emotional entanglements) .. DW and I haven't discussed this but I think she may suspect this because she knows I have always been as horny as fkc at the same time I don't think we are technically DADT either. sugar is also much safer and less "eww" than going for the real pros (hookers, happy ending massages etc) .... plus in the DC area the sugar babies are generally collage girls (educated) and "interesting" outside of the few mins of sex.

Cool. Sounds like everyone is getting what they want. Glad you found an arrangement that works for you.

If you really believe this is as justified as you try to pretend, you would not rationalize so much. The eww factor of this is off the charts. Apart from the infidelity/lying/diverting family funds, you are taking advantage of an unbalanced power dynamic that you pointed out in your post - these are college students! They are not independent adults with fully formed brains and the ability to really appreciate the arrangement they are in. I posted up thread that my DD’s friend - who is a smart college sophomore at a local university- is a sugar baby. I’m sure she doesn’t tell her sugar daddies that her parents pay her tuition and support her. She has a number of mental health issues and I suspect is attracted to the drama of the situation. Her friends are concerned and have tried to get her to put an end to it, with no luck yet. Men like you are doing a lot of damage. Think about whether you would want your DD in the same situation.

At least with a 45-50 year old whore on Ashley Madison you don’t need to spend any $. Sugar baby requires having to pay for the sex.

No idea how common it is but it's not rare. I know a couple men who do it.

There are actually way, way more young women interested in sugaring than men willing to pay. Like a PP said, it's hard to find a real young attractive woman vs an escort. The real ones make a lot of money.

Years ago, fresh out of grad school, I flirted with and went to lunch and drinks with the boss to get a nice job. Let him get a little handsy but it worked and got hired in a position that opened up lots of later great employment opportunities. Never did the sugar thing though.

Some women appreciate the headache off their hands, it’s like hiring another house cleaner (financially), and we’ll worth the ‘investment.’

If you want to find a younger woman to sleep with, it's really not that difficult and you don't need to pay for it. Yes, you'll cover meals and such but money doesn't need to change hands. You have other things to offer some young women that young men don't. And if you're doing this and you're married, actually paying money doesn't make the interaction less complicated or risky, it makes it more, because you're adding illegal behavior on top of everything else. Even if you'd be unlikely to get convicted, just being able to be plausibly accused could mess up your life.

Are you one of them?

Where did you meet these friends? College? Grow up together? At work? I'm wondering what i the common denominator. I'm also in my 40s and higher income level (lawyers) and I don't know anyone doing this.
And what are the demographics of their wives? Equivalent education and income level to your friends? I just can't imagine in my social circles the wives not noticing a substantial financial outlay.

Some I've know for years, some more recent. Eveyone in my circle is college educated and usually a masters. Wives tend to be career types also.

When you have a high HHI, no one is noticing $1-2k every month. Besides, you usually have a bunch of different accounts and credit cards at that level. No one has time to dig through all that.

Why do they do it and how often do they meet?

We don't reallly talk about the "why" (no guy is going to ask why another guy likes a young hottie.. isn't it obvious?). I assume they like sex and attention and someone to talk to. Some friends I know will have a steady for a few months, others do it less often like when traveling.

There are plenty of "sexless marriage" threads here if you want to know why.
