So no example, then blame Sharon. Wow

If Sharon is confused, she can do a quick Google search. Demanding a black woman to explain why this extreme white man is racist? It doesn’t make Sharon racist but her privilege and ignorance shines.

The black woman (Underwood) made the assertion - yet provided zero examples of racism. None. Osbourne had every right to be offended and disgusted. You don’t get a pass for rudely accusing someone of something they haven’t done just because you’re black.

So you didn’t actually watch the video? Bc it’s pretty clear Sheryl was trying to explain what could be construed as racist and Sharon didn’t want to hear it. Sharon screeched, wailed, cussed and wouldn’t even let her speak. And the comment that Sheryl can’t cry was ridiculous but Sharon sure knows how to play a victim and make it all about her.

Sharon made her bed by defending an as*hole of a man. A man who reached crazy stalker level by being so loud in his hate of someone he barely knows. A man who can most certainly stand up for himself. Piers didn’t need Sharon to take his side. Sharon should’ve kept her mouth close. She wanted everyone to know she stands with Piers. Now she can stand there alone and look as stupid as he does.

Interestingly, I somewhat agree with your last paragraph. Morgan is a vile, nasty bully and I personally would never want to be friends with someone like that. However, the accusations of racism are truly ridiculous. If he had said the same things about a white woman - behaved in the same aggressive, sick way - we’d be calling him out for it. But “racism” wouldn’t even be a consideration. There is nothing he has said about MM that relates to her race, in any way. At some point, when is “racism” going to stop being the go-to for so many of you?? Call the man a a$hole, but you don’t need to fabricate additional outrage.

Your understanding of what makes someone racist is surface level at best. The fact is, he didn't say the same things about a white woman, and that isn't what we're talking about. You cannot divorce her race from the issue.

It's like when you find yourself in a sexist, misogynistic environment. You can see it in the little things that are said and done, but if you point out every one of those little things, people will gaslight you with plausible explanations. But you still know what's going on, even if it isn't egregious or obvious enough for a well meaning man to also see it. Racism can work this way too.

Yeah sorry, but no. It doesn’t work that way. Racism isn’t a feeling you feel and then assign to someone. You have to be able to prove it with concrete facts and examples.

I didn't say it's merely a feeling. It's often the culmination of a lot of little things, that taken in isolation, can easily be dismissed with plausible explanations. There are people like you who won't accept as racism unless it involves a racial slur and a Klan hood.

+1 yep 👏👏👏

This is true, but we have a specific situation here where there weren't even any examples given AT ALL. So... Piers and Sharon are both stupid and ridiculous, but that doesn't mean you just get to cancel them with no evidence.

They canceled themselves. Period. Society didn’t do it. Piers was given free range until he wanted to dismiss mental health which is a huge no no. You don’t publicly dismiss someone who shares they are suicidal.

If Sharon had actually tried to listen and have a conversation she wouldn’t be in the position she is now. Unfortunately, while her tears may have worked in the past, they worked against her this time. Oh well.

+1. I know it feels good to point your finger and accuse someone else of racism. It makes you feel like you’re a righteous warrior for justice.

But you need to be able to identify the racism. You need to be able to provide specific examples. Otherwise you’re cheapening the accusation, and that does real damage to actual victims of racism.

That's the problem with issues of race often. Yes. Anytime you want to accuse someone of racism, you should have proof of their racism. In general, you shouldn’t accuse people of anything unless you have evidence.

Well there seems to be enough evidence for everyone, except you.

and me, there's not enough, in fact there is zero evidence of actual "racism" for me too

LOL, funny comment as anyone who asks for evidence of the racism is hit with a sexist slur. So, yeah. That's proof right in this thread.

What would constitute "proof"? Who gets to decide?

Because right now it seems like white people get to decide, and only the most obvious and egregious examples count, while the real every day experiences of racism get dismissed as not being "actual racism" and we're told not to "cheapen" the accusation of racism.

Every person gets to decide for themselves. We all have free will. But accusations alone are never sufficient. If you throw around accusations of racism but don’t or can’t back them up, it becomes a “boy who cried wolf” situation. You’re not actually helping black people by making accusations of racism that you can’t support.

Well it seems like, in this situation their employers get to decide for themselves, and the burden of proof was met for them. So, conversation over? Or do we also need your approval, despite your inability to specify what counts as the proof you continue to demand.

What would be sufficient proof? Can someone please explain? If you're going to require proof, can you at least tell us what would be proof enough for you?

It's gaslighting and goalposts moving. There is never enough proof.

We all watched a video of a man sitting on another man's neck while he slowly suffocated him to death for no apparent reason. But he didn't call him the N-word, so no racism, I guess.

Yes, when those or any term is just thrown about. It is shameful as these terms hold such significant meaning and power yet people will no longer absorb their meaning if thrown about.

You missed the point of the previous post entirely. Do increased accusations of sexism make you less sensitive or responsive to issues of sexism? Or does it perhaps just mean that there are most instances of sexism than you realized? Do you expect women to keep their encounters with sexism to themselves if you feel they've exceeded some sort of unspoken quota for the year? Or is that preposterous?

I don't think anyone has defended the cop. This is deflection. No one is denying that there is racism. What is being questioned is whether Sharon is a racist because she defended Piers who had the right to criticize Meghan. The assumption is that the only reason anyone would criticize Meghan is racism. That is the question here. And, the answer is that there is plenty to criticize and quesiton about Meghan that has NOTHING to do with race.

Don't pick and choose which part of my post to quote, then take what I said out of it's context.

First, plenty of people defended that man or said it wasn't about race. Plenty.

Second, WHAT COUNTS AS PROOF OF RACISM? The Racism deflectors always want proof but will never say what that proof is. Could it be because it doesn't exist? If someone doesn't use a literal slur while committing a flagrantly racist act, you all want to pretend you can see what's happening, and gaslight us into questioning our reality.

I used it as an example of the most egregious, and one would think obvious, examples of modern racism, where even that video is not enough "proof" for someone who doesn't want to see racism.

I'm not in any way saying the situations are equal.
