You THINK that, but your only sample is the 2000 adults on the openFCPS sample page, most of whom also post here. There are almost 200,000 children in FCPS./ |
No, I’m going off the demographics of the school system. You think most parents in Fairfax redecorated their dining room with new furniture, decor and art to look like a school classroom? GTFOOH lady. |
I usually come here to just read the crazy and don’t post, but this is just a load of misinformed garbage. Teachers are endorsed in specific areas. Yes, there are some high school teachers with prek-6 endorsements, but not a large number. There is a likely a reason why they gravitate towards high school. There are some older middle school teachers who have k-8 endorsement, but those are rare these days. Most secondary teachers graduating from teaching programs now have much more narrow certifications (i.e. science grades 6-8 or History/Social Science 7-12). |
Oh, wait. YOU selected IN PERSON school for your own child, got sick and now want to choose that everyone else stay home? Did you pull your child out of school for the rest of the year? You don't think people who can't afford private school should be able to send their kids to school? Is education now a luxury good? |
Feel free to reach out to the news. |
+1. Seriously. Talk about myopic and entitled. The photos they showed were very representative of what normal FCPS kids look like doing DL. |
Yeah, this private K lady is pretty much the epitome of selfishness.... |
And what are we or the audience to take from that? Look, DL-for-all is coming to and end sooner than later. Feel free to enjoy your comfortable DL setup. I'm sure you're hopeful it doesn't get too compromised by the impending concurrent intrusion. |
Yeah, PP kind of went off the rails a bit in making their point. Lucky them to have had private kindergarten this year. |
My sentiments exactly! |
What a tone deaf post. Some kids are "thriving", and we must make policy that caters to them. |
I think everyone should have the same choice you did - and not just those who can pay for it. I don't want to take virtual away from anyone - and I am happy for anyone who lives in a multigenerational family to select that option, rather than keep everyone from having an in person option. |
Yes, if a household can't afford private and/or can't find an opening, they should be able to attend public...just like PP above. |
Jeez private K mom read the room. |
The photos of the kids doing DL ALONE were spot on. That’s the point: kids are at home, alone, on a computer. It doesn’t matter if they are sitting in their bed or at a desk or in a nicely decorated room. Even if a parent is nearby to help, these kids are alone in learning. They are missing out. They are missing out on friendships, relationships with teachers, and normal life.
