There is so much covid hypocrisy. Any FCPS staff member with 2 vaccines should be teaching in person 2 weeks after the 2nd vaccine. Subjects? Middle and high school teachers are capable and have the content knowledge base to teach elementary. a 3rd grade teacher for example could not teach physics. An AP physics teacher could teach 3rd grade.

No that's not how they work. I think you understand how they work. 😄

VDOE has scads of info on licenses, Praxis, endorsements. If any teacher has the academic credentials to teach higher level courses there is no reason they can't teach lower level. Agree. And this thinking is all over the RTS plans. There's no reason why kids can't go on playground equipment, for instance. Surface transmission isn't a thing and EVEN IF IT WAS which it's not, they are outdoors. There are tons of ridiculous rules like this.

Pandemic theater. We have to look like we’re doing SOMETHING and libraries and playgrounds and schools are easy to close because kids don’t have lobbyists. Science be damned.

Nothing can be worse than a year of no school.

My kids have been in school virtually this past year. They haven’t been out of school for a year.

I didn’t know anyone who was seriously affected by COVID until a month ago, when a member of my family got it and died last week. The risks seem worth taking until it affects your family and then everything changes.

I wish they had shown photos of children that were NOT provided by the openFCPS crew - those pics of kids on the floor and in their beds were super biased. My children have a really nice set up in our former dining room with comfortable desks and chairs, things up on the walls, a nice bookshelf for their supplies, and they pay attention during school and are learning stuff. It looks nothing like the children depicted in those photos.

Then you shouldn't have pulled your child out of school. Mine has been in school since September and has been learning. Is it ideal? No, of course not, but it's definitely school, and she's definitely learning.

learn how to read asshole. MY own asymptomatic child brought Covid home from private kindergarten and my husband and I were very sick. We are very lucky we don't live in a multigenerational household like many FCPS children and there were no higher risk adults in our home.
