Employers are changing plans.

Actively hiring :18%
Remote/Virtual:25%
Hiring Freeze: 15%
Pending:42%

This is also the data from April 23,2020
I’m sure all schools were in the same boat at that time...

Lehigh has a great M.E. program, and your son may get merit with his stats.

People will cite to anything here to bash a school.

+1, DD graduated CS last year from UVA, got 6-7 offers over 100k. DS graduating this year with 2 offers so far and has already accepted one, both also over 100k

Doesn’t ring true.

Lol yeah these UVA boosters are really toeing the line when it comes to believability

Not sure why this is so hard to believe, though I was worried about it with the pandemic going on about our kids' prospects. However, apparently the big tech companies are doing fine during the pandemic and are still hiring like crazy. Not sure what else I can say to convince you I'm telling the truth.

+1

Based on my experience, only a handful of UVA CS grads go on to FAANG and most go on to places like Capitol One and similar places locally in the DC metro area.

Wow. Amazing! You know all 200 computer science graduate students and all 1000 undergraduate computer science graduate students? And I bet you didn't know that the CS UVA graduate makes $20K more than the mean CS student in the U.S. Or that Capitol One is on UVA's ADVISORY BOARD and some Nova students - egads! - want to return to home!. https://engineering.virginia.edu/sites/default/files/UVAEngineering_FactsAtAGlance_2018-2019_web_v4.pdf

Don't be so defensive... no wonder people detest UVA boosters on here.

You need to learn the difference between being "defensive" (an irrational postural position taken out of insecurity) and the simple need to correct facts. If a maroon writes "Based on my experience (lolol right there), only a handful of UVA CS grads go on to FAANG . . . and then don't even know of the Board connections with Capitol One then, yes, I think the facts need to be corrected for those reading that kind of trash. I realize that UVA's student rivals are back at home and have nothing else to do but bash a school they couldn't get into (that would be UMD and Va Tech) but a sentence like that is just someone shooting off their mouth without knowing anything about the UVA Computer Science Program and/or hiring and it deserves correction. I bet you didn't know that Steve Huffman is a graduate of UVA either, did you? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_Huffman

I know Harvard CS grad this year having a tough time with securing full time employment so I think uva boosters should give it a rest.

Why would anybody go to Harvard and study CS?

9% of graduates major in CS. Not sure why you would ask that.

It's like going to MIT to major in history.

It’s like going to Harvard just to go to Harvard. Major is inconsequential. Seems like that works out well for some.

The kids that go to Harvard and major in CS are not there to learn CS; they already are quite accomplished in CS.

Can't say the same foe UVA CS majors.

One does not go to UVA to study CS and for the bountiful career opportunities in engineering. Sure, it's fine, but people on here are making it out to be the best possible choice for anyone studying engineering which it simply is not.

People will make wild claims here to boost their school.

The whole point was the hiring was in the sh1tter this year. Despite what nut job PPs may claim.

Just look at the upcoming career fair. SLIM pickings.

They go to UVA because their parents didn’t want to shell out the money for a better school.
