| I contacted my credit card company and got $1k+ reversed. |
| Has anyone seen their camp refunds yet? |
| Considering I haven't gotten a refund yet for the cancelled teacher work days or the Spring enrichment classes, I wouldn't hold your breath for summer camp refunds. |
Got those but took forever. |
| I got a refund about 10 days ago. It took about a month from when I asked for it to receive. |
| I filled out those surveys they sent out well over a month ago asking for a refund, and still nothing! The email with the survey link said not to contact them requesting a refund, just use a link. Not sure how much longer I'm willing to wait before emailing them. |
| I just got an email about The Lane partnering with Flex Academies to put together pods for virtual learning and socialization. Since this looks like another stream of income, Flex Academies should be able to give back our summer funds, right? |
This is desperation, you should get your money back but understand this small business is likely about to go under and throwing anything at the wall that will stick. |
I’m still waiting for a summer camp refund but an under the impression Flex’s online offerings are doing reasonable well. There also were probably limited financial outlay for the canceled programming so don’t think things are that dire. At least I hope not. |
There is no world where online offerings will replace in-school camp and after school classes, not volume, pricing other anything else. There are hundreds of other online providers doing exactly the same thing and competing for the same kids with pricing ridiculously low. Flex is basically a company that connects babysitters (providers) to families. Their value add is minimal during the pandemic. That's what they are trying to do with their pods. Aside from the summer camps Flex doesn't provide anything, they are simply a middle man between PTAs & providers. There is no possible way they are thriving financially; if you are worried about their viability you should donate summer camp tuition. |
| In their July 1 email where they posted the refund survey link they said it would take 30-45 days to refund money. (Why it takes that long, I don't entirely understand... In the early 2000s I ran a youth program and did credit card refunds all the time. I would imagine the technology has only improved...but I digress..) The important thing here is that we are still within that 45 day window. So I'm trying not to worry...yet. |
I figured if I don’t receive the refund by August 15 (the end of their 45 days) just will initiate a credit card chargeback. |
| Still waiting. Guessing they’ll do it last possible moment. |
| We’re still waiting too. If anyone does receive a refund from summer, let us know! |
|
For anyone still trying to request a refund, the survey link from the July 1 email no longer works. I've contacted them 6 times (phone and direct emails) for more than two weeks, with only one 1.5 line email in response saying they will send out the new survey link "as soon as possible." There has been no mass notification to parents that the survey link no longer works. Seems like Flex is trying to pull the wool over everyone's eyes.
I think my next step will be to contact NBC4, which recently did a nice piece on how great Flex Academies is. |
