Elizabeth Warren hot mic comments

I'm still making up my mind as to who is my first choice, and this behavior reminds me of Trump (refusing to shake hands, putting something inflammatory out there so he either agrees with her or is "calling her a liar.") Definitely not a good move for her.

I could see them having discussed something like who would be most electable, in private. I don't think whatever was discussed should be public record. That is, if Bernie said something honest like "I don't know if America is ready to elect its first woman president" I don't see any good reason to share that on stage at a debate.

Why not? That says something about Bernie's mindset. He has never been supportive of women's issues. Why is it wrong for voter's to know that?

Three months ago, Warren had a 44% chance of winning the nomination, according to Predictit betting. Now she is at 10%. This "hot mic" moment looks like a scripted effort to (a) inject some life into her campaign, or (b) drive up Bernie's negatives as a gift to Biden, who stays above the fray.

She's a nasty piece of work with unworkable far-left policies. And people are actually considering her????

You’re naive if you think a Harvard Professor is “far-left”!

You're naïve if you don't recognize that she is very far to the left - too far for most people's tastes. But go ahead and nominate her. You'll see.

Leak before the debate, clearly a timed leak

Walk over directly after the debate while you are positive the mike is hot and call him out for calling you a liar. Chance to look authoritative.

Bernie got played big time. Completely plausible the conversation never occurred and he never said it. She set him up and he got worked over.

I think it made her look worse than him. More shrewish than ever.

Yes.

But I frankly don't see how it helps to become the nominee. She is doing this to become Biden's VP choice.

Trump takes ownership of belittling people? You mean by saying, "So what?"?

omg

Well, first of all not everyone believes he illegally assassinated a killer.

And, EW is a moron - and yet she's representing the Ds in this election. ain't no chance in hell she'll win against Trump

I say this as a registered D who didn't vote for Trump in 2016.

Stay on topic.

Good job with the dog whistle. Blow it harder.

But you think Bernie is middle of the road? Lol.

When did I ever say that? You're assuming that everyone posting here is either for Warren, or for Sanders. Both of them are too far to the left to win a general election. The only one who is moderate is Biden, although he's got some big flaws of his own. But I still think he's the best bet to beat Trump.

You've never been to Harvard, have you?

I’m friends/acquaintances with scads of alums, professors, deans, members of The Harvard Corporation, and directors at The Harvard Management Corporation. I also have relatives (slave money. FWIW) who gave big $$$ to build a building on Harvard Yard.

Shorter: I’m much familiar with Harvard than all but a small handful of folks.

Harvard is the biggest pile of wealth because it’s had the most brazenly avaricious white dudes in this society for centuries. It’s very hard to be more right-wing than Harvard.

The only reason you think Harvard is left at all is that they pump up annoying cultural issues as a distraction from the real issues of power and wealth. But I can assure you a pile of wealth uniquely large, even relative to Yale, Princeton, MIT, Stanford, etc., will never, ever stand for anything ‘left’.

You mean he’s not wasted a lot of time reciting the cliches of rich women who like to think they can define “women’s issues”.

M4A and economic justice as advocated by Bernie would do massively more to improve more women’s lives (on an absolute and relative basis, btw) than all that crap professional feminists like to whine about.

Just a side note.... I heard somewhere recently that Bernie pays women on his campaign more than Warren. Can't remember the source.
Does anyone know if that is true?

He paid his female staffers less than his male staffers in 2016.

Nope. Anyone who thinks that abortion rights can be bargained away and doesn’t understand that reproductive rights ARE an economic issue doesn’t understand bupkiss.
