I took another pregnancy test this morning and I’m pregnant. It’s our first and I’m terrified it won’t stick but for now I’m just staying positive.

Congrats!!! I hope you have a healthy pregnancy. Do try to stay positive and think happy thoughts!!

And ME, I’m sorry and hope the Dr offers answers. We’re headed down the RE road in January if these next cycles don’t work. My OBGYN really brushed off my concerns because our first was easily conceived...except I was 33 then and now I’m 39. So frustrating.

Jena, I could have written your post! I posted earlier than I am just now getting positive OPKs on day 31 of my cycle - what the heck! Anyways, making an RE appointment for January.

You may not want to wait until January. I’m the one who posted about my RE experience. Started testing in September but took a few weeks to get all the tests completed since the day of your cycle matters. I go tomorrow to start first IUI cycle. I would go now and use this time to get the initial testing done then be ready to start cycles in January if needed. Of course I know it depends on your situation, but wanted to share the timing info if it’s helpful!

Interesting...I was thinking January because it will have been six months of trying at that point (I'm over 35). Did that matter for making your appointment? Also, just out of curiosity, did your insurance cover the initial testing? I reasoned that in January, I could pay out of pocket expenses with a HSA, which I can set up now during open season.

Insurance covered almost everything, with $20 copays:
-Initial appointment ($20 copay)
-Initial Ultrasound
-HSG
-Two rounds of bloodwork
-Follow up ultrasound to confirm no cysts (maybe $20 copay?)
-Husband semen analysis
-Follow up appointment to discuss above results ($20 copay)

At the 1st follow up, he sent my husband for a follow up semen analysis and that we had to pay out of pocket for ($189).

I have Aetna with DC Government. The plan says it covers all diagnostics for infertility. Then it goes to 50% coinsurance for IUI, which is at the negotiated rate, so it's $187 I pay per cycle. I have no coverage for infertility drugs, so those are all out of pocket. We normally do $500 in our FSA so I upped it to $1,000 this year. We have no IVF coverage, but aren't sure we'd do it anyway. I did have to enroll in an infertility program with insurance, which was free, but took about 45 minutes on the phone to enroll. I think it's just making sure we've tried everything first. A nurse then called to follow up and was actually helpful going through the procedures AND what they will pay for.

Forgot that when I made the appointment we had only been trying for 5 months and I'm 36, so I knew 6 months was it. I wasn't sure how long it would take to get an appointment (it was the next week) so I called early. He asked my last two periods and I told him the number of days in each cycle but he really didn't seem concerned that I hadn't hit exactly 6 months.

Yup!

Thanks for the RE info. Insurance coverage is my number one concern. We’re feds and so IVF is off the table. Hopefully other treatments are affordable. -Jena

Long Cycle here, and I got a positive over the weekend! Wanted to share my lessons learned....for me, I ovulated VERY late this cycle. Day 31. I have had several months of 38 day cycles since going off the pill and never had a positive OPK (but also gave up testing well before day 31). This time around, I just kept testing on opks and got a positive on day 31, and now, two weeks later, I'm pregnant. Stick with it and good luck, everyone!

Congratulations! So happy for you! I just started the TWW on Friday. This time was a canceled IUI cycle (would have been our first) so I had taken Clomid. I still don't think it will happen for us, but we are hoping for a Christmas miracle. If not, based on timing it looks like we have to wait until January to try the IUI due to travel around Christmas.

Jena here: Well AF is due today (14 or 15 dpo) and she’s a no show. Getting a super faint line on a FRER so I’m assuming it’s another chemical. Hope I’m wrong this time...

ME. Period came this week, but we both had the stomach bug last month when I ovulated.

I’m also the OP of the HSG thread. We’ll try next month and hope for the best, or I’m looking at surgery to check out my tangled and stuck tubes.

I really hope to avoid surgery and conceive naturally!

No such luck. Another chemical.

I had my first RE appointment today though! Ended up calling last month since we had a ton of extra fsa money. It wasn’t as terrifying as I thought it’d be. Did some initial bloodwork and we plan to start with a medicated cycle in January. He suggested that the chemicals mean at least egg and sperm can meet, which is half the battle. Jena

Got a positive test last week and wanted to share what (seemed) to work. This will be my third pregnancy and by far the fastest for me to have gotten pregnant. I can never predict my ovulation date and gave up with the different ovulation tests, recording temp, etc in the past. Instead I had sex every other day beginning the day before the end of my period (my periods are 7 days so the last two is really faint). Did that for 10 days and bam. Of course I also believe I got very lucky but considering how fast I got pregnant this round I’m going to say this method worked for me. (Btw I’m 34yo)

Good luck ladies!!
