I was wondering if anyone knows what schools around the area are similar to Maret?

Talk about a troll post! There is no way the Maret AD informed any applicant family their child has been shortlisted. NONE

Let’s be nice! Considering what’s going on, I don’t know why anyone would take the time to come on here asking for advice to then lie! You don’t know what you are talking about.

Well they “have spoke” to the AD so I’m sure that’s factually correct.

For lower school, I would say Sheridan is similar, though it only goes to 8th. The reasons -- similar cultures and set up: small and cozy with a warm, involved parent community. Also a more down-to-earth vibe than some of the other schools. There's not a comparable k-12 school for Maret. It's its own thing.

Thank you! What about for high school in terms of a less strict environment similar to Maret?

How do you define "less strict?"

Honestly, I don't think there's a high school exactly like Maret. Maybe GDS if I had to pick. Each school has a pretty distinct culture.

Maret is not at all like GDS. GDS has a significant inferiority complex, especially with respect to Sidwell. Maret marches to the beat of its own drum. And still delivers outstanding results.

Can anyone speak to how Maret has done with distance learning? If I’m not mistaken, they already had some sort of online platform pre covid. I’m wondering if that’s translated well to DL in a Maret parent’s opinion.

No comment on Maret, which is a nice school. However, the suggestion that GDS has an inferiority complex compared to Sidwell is absurd. To borrow a phrase, people in the know, know GDS. Sure, Sidwell may be a more famous name in the mass media because of the Clinton-Obama connections. But the better was to think of the Big 3 relative positioning is that Sidwell is Harvard Law — solid, established, recognized name. GDS is Yale Law - more creative, definitely more intellectual, more sought after by those who discern the value difference.

Ack please stop, both of you! Neither of these posts bears any resemblance to reality outside of this stupid forum.

Because excellence and thought leadership still matter.

GDs/Sidwell are a dying stars. A white dwarf headed for a black hole. That's physics. It's inevitable.

You're going to need to clarify what you mean by "similar".
