That’s okay. I guess I’m not as funny as I think I am (except unintentionally to my kids).

Example of blazers that totally work in warm weather, and make a person look older:
Just saying. |
| I was out recently with a friend and our kids (kids ages 9-12). She is 5’1” and I am 5’7”. We are both 45. Someone asked if she was my MIL and the kids’ grandma. She was not pleased. So there’s that. |
Op here. I am very fair skinned. A white blazer washes me out unfortunately and wearing a dark blazer would be weird in hot weather but thanks for the suggestions! |
Someone who is 5'4 and small boned could be considered petite. I get called tiny all the time and I am 5'4 with a long torso and thin. |
Is she overweight? We're talking about thin and short people. |

Oh god another “younger” post.
I’ve yet to meet someone who actually looked significantly younger than their age. You can look good or you can look not so good for your age. There’s certain giveaways, pore size, slight changes the skin around the eyes that happen in your 30s. Nobody looks 22 forever. Most people are just bad at guessing ages. |
No, she is very lean. Runs a lot. Wears a lot of make up and dyes her grays blonde. Nice person. Go figure. |

I was OP until I was about 40. I remember some guy in college saying in passing to his friend that didn't I belong in middle school. For some reason, that's really stuck with me, and I found it humiliating.
Flash forward to age 52. Maybe I'm even shorter now, but my young face is aging. All my life I've gotten used to people being surprised when they hear my real age. That doesn't happen as often anymore, and when it does I'm finally glad to hear it. |
What about light grey or camel? I have the same problem as you do and have a light grey blazer. It’s the only way I can wear jeans without being mistaken for a student. |
I looked this up and 5’4” is exactly the average height for adult women. You may be very thin and people are referring to you as tiny in that respect, but being thin doesn’t make you appear shorter. Thin people frequently appear to be taller than they actually are. I’ve never heard the word petite used to refer to weight, I have only ever heard it used to refer to height. If anything, I’ve heard people use it as a polite euphemism for short. I’ve never heard an average or tall person referred to as petite, no matter how thin they might be. |

I'm 50, and petite. I still have strangers who call me "young lady".
Sometimes, I don't think they're joking. It's not that I look 20 (I know that ship sailed loooong ago). I think it's that I'm little. 5'2" and small framed with big eyes. I do think there can be a mental correlation for some people between height and perceived "youthfulness". |
I worked for a popular nonprofit for 3 years and I hate to break it to you, but it was very, very wasteful with funds. First of all, the CEOs and equal all had extremely high 6 and even 7 figure salaries. LOTS spent on party planning and throwing parties. We threw a few events where the amount we received in donations was just a couple of grand more than what was spent to throw the party. Still a success, though, in their eyes. Root beer float Mondays, Working Women Wednesday Happy Hours, local brewery Fridays... those are just a few of the things the money was spent on.

| We get wine delivered and unless it's our normal FedEx guy, the driver always cards me. I get it, it says on the box to ask for ID, but come on! Twice, including yesterday, the driver asked if my parents were home because they needed an adult to sign. I laughed and told her I was the adult and Name on Package was me. She looked skeptical and asked to see my ID. Gave that to her and she scrutinized it like she was giving me entry into an exclusive 21+ club with alcohol raining down from the fire sprinklers. |
Heh, that's true. I am the PP who is 45 and recently got carded. It's true that the "guess your age" guy at the carnival totally got it right a few years ago. But when you say "most people are just bad at guessing age" that's kinda what we're talking about. But I'm not complaining. |
