| I am almost 31 and get mistaken to be much younger all the time. When people find out I have a toddler they freak out. Usually this happens at work or at a doctors appointment etc. I actually avoid talking about my child if I am not with him because it's kind of annoying when people make a big deal about things. I have been volunteering in my son's Sunday school class for over a year now and one of the moms asked me if I go to high school. She was looking for a babysitter and she's my age!! She didn't realize that I am older and that I have a child in the classroom. I live in a warm climate so wearing suites and blazers is really not possible. I kinda of at the point where I don't care anymore but it does suck when people your own age think you're 10 year's younger. I think they write me off. |
| I am sorry but this is hilarious! |
| Serious humblebrag. |
Believe me you will be thanking your lucky stars in a decade or two! |
Op here. No it's not. It's embarrassing and kind of creepy. I don't like it. |

You probably look younger than your age. When I was a 21 year old 2LT in the Army, I looked like I was 14. It was a real disadvantage. I was still being carded in my early thirties.
However, hang in there. It gets more fun as you get older to look younger. |

I’m petite. 34yo. I always looking younger OR older.
Younger by default. Older if I try to look older. Looking “older” really ages me....moreso than other people. I can’t put my finger on it. I have to find the sweet spot. Your spot maybe different, but I generally: -Wear clothing that skims my body. Not tight but not loose. -Wear jackets and blazers with faux collars, and get the sleeve length cut right. Just the less bit of collar material makes a jacket not so HEAVY -I look 15+ years younger with no makeup. But not in a good way. Makeup that isn’t heavy is just right because it says grown up but not “covering up.” -There are prints I cannot do. No hippy-dippy with paisley or tassels or flowy stuff. I look old. -Shoes!! Work on your shoes first. Now I think about it this might be most important. I could go into this but maybe you get it without me taking the space. Shoes.

Not true. I heard this for years from people who had no idea. I’m in my mid-50s and I’d rather be taken seriously as a grown person, than told I look so young and being dismissed. It’s done demeaning. |
I am the PP you are responding to and I am in my mid 40s, petite and look very young for my age. Maybe it is the way you are dressing more than your stature? |
Op here. I have to wear comfortable shoes because I have arthritis. I have been wearing Vans lately. I work from home most of the time so it's not an issue. |
| At least you don’t need to show your ID card to get a “student member rate” ! |
I doubt it. I dress very professionally and get everything tailored -Theory, Veronica. Bears, Vince, Boss, Burberry. I’m tough as nails and am well known in my field (world-wide). It’s mostly older men and white women who treat me like a neophyte. I’m South Asian descent. |
Op here. Yes that's very true. I got the young adult membership without even asking recently at the YMCA. Later on I went to add my child and childcare. I was shocked to find out that there was not an extra charge for childcare. My YMCA membership with childcare is $29. The person who signed me up was definitely in highschool. |

It depends on how you dress & how you carry yourself but, yes, often they do.
This tends to reverse course by early middle age, however. |
Chances are that she will look frumpy, not young, by that point. |
