Do petite women look younger?

BUT I learned a couple years ago that even though I've always "dressed my age," it is possible to dress in a certain way and do my hair and makeup that makes it seem more like I'm in my late 30s. So, that's how I dress most of the time, and if I want to look "young" (on a date with my DH!) I can do that, too.

Op here. Thanks. I am going to work on make-up. I don't wear makeup now because it always gives me acne. I will focus on my eyes. Whenever I put it on I feel like a clown too.

If you are so inclined, you could get an "older" haircut, too. Long hair will make you look younger. You don't need full face makeup. I never work full face makeup till I was in my 30s.

I'm 5', and I used to get pegged as younger all the time, too.

I had a bob recently and now my hair is medium length.

I’m short and have a baby face AND the voice of a teenager. I’m 31. It’s horrible! I have a hard time being taken seriously, eapecially at work. It’s not bragging and I’m over thinking it’s “cute” that colleagues think I’m right out of college or the woman at 7-11 is shocked I’m 21.

Petite does not always read as young. Just think of the phrase "little old lady"!

That def negates all the lived experiences you're reading about on that thread. Thanks.

So, that was just a funny remark. Thus the smiley face. I guess I should have written haha also to make it clear.

Heh, sorry. I should be less touchy online!

Some people just look young. I'm 5'10" and got carded for a Rated R movie when I was 29. Now that I'm in my mid-thirties it doesn't come up as much but I still look pretty good for my age. I can see how it would be aggravating to be mistaken for a teen mom, though.

What does petite have to do with it?

I’m fairly tall, but people assume I am much younger.

This is not what OP is talking about. If you're tall, you are no being mistaken for an adolescent.

Op here. How are vans horrible for your feet? High heels and ballet flats are horrible for your feet but my vans are very comfortable. I have less pain in my knees now that I have switched to vans or Brooks running shoes . What exactly am I supposed to wear to the playground? Clogs? Birkenstocks? Birkenstocks would look so silly on me. I am 5'4 and thin/ small frame.

My tall cousin is 25 and people are always asking her what high school she goes to. She just has a really young looking face with blond hair and really light eyelashes. She wears sunscreen all the time but very little makeup, so she just has a really young look, even though she’s about 5’7” or so.

I would think of 5’4” as fairly average height, not really petite. I think of 5’ or shorter when I think of petite.

This happens to me too. When I was 26 people thought I was 16. Now I'm almost 50 and people who are only 5-10 years older than me think I am so much younger. Makes you feel like you deserve more respect. I am average height but have a small petite? head which might make me seem more child sized but kids have big heads so I don't know if that's why.
