Sure being petite can erase years off of your appearance.
I strongly advise you to take looking young fully in stride because you have a very unique gift if you can pass for a decade younger. Grasp it!

Maybe just another humble brag but my wife has always had the same issue and is also petite. When we got married at 25 she easily could pass for 17 or 18. She was legitimately asked for ID until she was well into her late thirties. Still looking 40ish at 55 along with her original weight, she still turns heads. Standing alongside my two adult daughters and most people assume their sister’s.
My wife also had the same issues with people not thinking of her as the older adult that she was. Luckily you’ll get the last laugh when your my wife’s age and still looking young. |
And one other thing you’ll run into later in life if you keep your younger looks, most all other women your age will be over weight and clearly look older. Don’t expect them to treat you nicely simply out of jealousy. |
| Yes. I have a co worker who is 33. She honestly looks 17. Perfect skin, tiny and just childlike in a lot of ways. It's rare but it can happen. And no, she's not Asian. |
| Vans are horrible for your feet! |
You know this is fraud, right? |
And horrible for your back! |
| Looking young at work is more challenging. Seems like you always have to demonstrate your knowledge and skills to critics. |

I think Asians can pull off younger for longer
But, yes, being petite definitely can keep you looking young. I am in my early 40s and could still shop in the juniors section, although about a year ago I started giving the “younger” clothes in my closet to my pre teen. I was mistaken as the nanny with my first child all the time. Of course, I wear jeans and t or sweat shirts all the time when not in work clothes, so I’m not helping matters there. |
| Yes. I am the one with the teenage looking co worker. She always has to work harder to get people here to notice her capabilities. It's just hard as she really does look like a child still. |
| I only think it’s because everything is relative. So many Americans are fat and it ages them since most people gain weight as they age. If you’re not fat , you stand out and look younger |
I agree! I’m 36 but get carded all the time. I’ve even had police officers ask why I wasn’t in school when I encountered them in resataurants at lunchtime. I’m not married and have no kids and that makes it even worse. I can’t possibly contribute anything worthwhile to any situation because of that and how young I’m perceived. |
Most fat people I know have the baby faces. It’s when they lose weight that they really age. My cousin was always mistaken for being under 21 well into her late 30s. She had weight loss surgery and when the pounds started dropping, the age she looked started rising. |
You’re not wrong. I’m 41 and am always shocked at how old others my age look. Where I notice it most is when I attend the NKOTB concerts (go ahead and laugh!) - I look around and think “what have these women done to themselves?” It’s sad |

What do you mean by "petite"? Do you mean very short or average height but very thin?
Generally, "petite" refers to height, not weight, but many of the replies here seem to be mentioning weight, so I'm wondering now what OP was actually referring to. |
