It was also weird that they did not file his taxes while they were able to get signatures for whatever expenses they need to get paid. Depp is not a financial person and it seems like he is not able to keep track of his dealings, and I'd think this is why he hired TMG to make sure someone is staying on top of these things for him, no?

This is what I was thinking. Yes, he's spending a lot of money, but he aalso made a lot of money. The late filings, the wonky loan, some of the other stuff - it just seems like TMG was taking advantage and they should be held accountable for that.

Exactly. A company would not have stayed that long if they knew he was bankrupt at the beginning and does not listen to them given a year's cycle. I think there's more to this than TMG is telling. The part where Depp says they only give him the signature portion could possibly be true, yes it is stupid of him to trust that way but it doesn't seem like TMG was acting in good intentions as well.

He was blowing 30K a month on alcohol - that's crazy, that's excessive, that's beyond gluttonous.

And he is shocked, SHOCKED that his money ran out. Ugh, save the acting for the movies Depp.

yes, but if you make millions.....millions.... 30k isn't that much.

Compare that to the kardasians. They spend on private jets (more than one), and other gluttonous things (doesn't kylie have a handbag collection in excess of a million dollars?) and they aren't going broke. That's because compared to what they bring in, it's reasonable. I think the same thing with Depp. You have to put it into perspective of what he earns.

I wouldn't be too sure about the Kardashians. It wouldn't surprise me if they end up broke in 10 years, once they are too old for anyone to care about them.

I think the Kardashians are a house of cards like Trump. Depp could fix a lot if he could sell his real estate, though it’s hard to sell ones that are that expensive.

For everyone saying that he could just sell what he has or sell part of what he has, you're missing the point. Money was stolen from him by TMG. So, if someone steals, oh, I don't know, $5000 or $10,000 from you. How would you feel if everyone around you just said "sell one of your cars to cover the loss. go ahead. If you just sold a car or a sofa you'd be whole again" That's not the point. It's his money and he shouldn't have to sell anything to get his money back

Oh look. Another celebrity revealed to have squandered his fortune and be abusive, addicted to drugs and booze, and basically a terrible person. Ho hum.

You're kidding right? Just in case you are not, the article said he had a 35 year career, not that his age his 35. He is 55 years old.

True, but there is no telling when or if he may recover money that may have been stolen depending on the courts. Principles don't pay debts. When you need money in the present and you have stuff, it's a no-brainer, sell stuff. Apparently his horse farm is still for sale after it failed to sell at auction last year, but he supposedly owns 14 luxury homes across the globe, 40 cars, boats, a massive guitar collection and storage units full of stuff. He also spends a chunk of money supporting his family. He may not want to or should not have to get rid of stuff, but multi-million dollar earning celebs aren't immune to doing what they have to in order to pay some bills.

Did you skip the part where some of his family (mainly a sister) may be part of the problem?

This guy had tons of resources. He could have hired a firm to audit and oversee his managers. But he didn't do that. Instead he surrounded himself with "yes men", people who told him what he wanted to hear and he blew through his fortune. Did his managers also overcompensate themselves? Probably.

And he continues to spend money that he doesn't have. There are no way to make the numbers work on his accounts, the dude is in financial trouble. And honestly I really don't care because he had to work pretty hard to blow through that enormous fortune of his. If he's broke, he's broke. Is what it is.

+1 it has taken way too long for Kim and Kanye to finish building their house. Plus he admitted having money troubles when he was begging for capital for his fashion line.

I know, what I'm saying is that one of his sisters appears to be part of the problem insofar as overcompensating herself.

Not to derail this thread, but they are taking their time building their house because they don't really live together. They'll probably sell it once it's built and start on another house before officially moving in together. It's a business relationship between friends. Kanye is gay.

Why did he give his sister access to his money and if he was too clueless to understand that he was burning through his money like an out of control forest fire why would she be any less clueless than he was?

Didn't Jay-Z give Kanye a huge loan for his fashion business?
