Kid Rock came from a wealthy suburban family that owned a chain of car dealerships. Depp certainly made a lot more than Rock, but Depp came from a troubled, abusive, and poor family. Wealth maintenance is a mindset that is not inherent in all of us. |
Wow, I had no idea about Kid Rock’s background. In other news Vanessa Paradis got married yesterday. |
Relax, dummy. Sounds like you could use some of Johnny's wine stash. |
He can’t afford it anymore , you’d know that if you weren’t such an illeterate . |
LOL. It's "illiterate". And you have no idea how much he has hoarded in his various estates. It's cool though, I'm sure he doesn't either. |
Lol, what the heck does that even mean? When you are talking in terms of 650 million dollars you would really have to work to blow threw that stack of money. Kid Rock simply don't spend every last dime he made. He invested a chunk of his money and he and grandchildren will benefit from him doing so. He is leaving a legacy for his heirs. Depp has spent it all on himself and appears to be intent on taking it all with him. I feel bad for his kids who have grown up in such a spendthrift la la land - that is all that they know. What happens to them when they are left with nothing? |
Okay, so take Depp's wealth, frivolity, and hugely bad decision making out of the process: nothing is going to happen to his kids. They don't have an inherent right to an inheritance. They will survive the same way most of the world survives when parents die and there is no inheritance. What a stupid argument. It is his money. His kids are taken care of right now while they're kids. How he chooses to use it or lose it and how much is left later is separate from them entirely. |

I haven't read the article yet, but this reminds me of an article I read probably 8-10 years ago, perhaps in Vanity Fair, about Johnny Depp. The article talked about his amazing yacht. I remember thinking at the time - - he's going to burn through his money very quickly at this rate.

My point is that his kids have grown up knowing a luxurious lifestyle that the rest of us will never experience. They don't know what it's like to live a normal life with 2 parents who work 9-5 jobs. They don't have a clue what it's like to travel in an old minivan and pile into a cheap hotel room for the night. They have no idea what it means to work on their own car, do their own laundry, mow their own grass, cook their own meals.... They can't have much in the way of basic life skills. And Depp is leaving them with nothing. He sucks as a dad and as a human being. The kids will survive but they are going to have a hard road with some very rude awakenings ahead of them. Can you imagine going from having villas and mansions all over the world, yachts and personal chefs....to living in a crappy apartment and searching your old pockets for change to use in the vending machine? I hope they can approach it like an adventure because life is gonna change in a dramatic way for them... |
| ^And the thing that makes Depp triple suck is that he, himself, came from a poor family. He knows how hard it is to be poor and, yet, it doesn't sound as though he has set aside anything for his own children. |
Jesus. His daughter is a model making her own money and it seems like she'll be fine, plus like the other poster said no child is entitled to an inheritance. His family knows how hard it is to be poor and maybe that's why they've been milking him dry for years. |
| ^ And his kids are likely pretty close in age to his last wife, they are adults or close to it, not babies. |
Can you imagine having a mother who is a superstar in France (and who has been one since childhood)?? Depp’s kids will hardly be destitute or searching old pockets for change. |
He's got a 19 year old daughter and a 16 year old son. |
I didn't know who their mother was. I assumed that Depp was the one who financially supported his kids but if they also have a rich mother then it won't be such a huge change for them to have a broke dad. Depp still could have done more for his kids than he did but at least they'll be o.k. in spite of him. |
