Johnny Depp is broke and ..... possibly crazy

Not to derail this thread too much, but this essay from last year is pretty amusing:

We need you, Keanu. Please come back

"COME back, Keanu — we need you. In fact, I’m sending George Clooney on a special Oceans 14 mission to locate you.

It’s been a dire few weeks for our formerly ageless ’90s heart-throbs. There we were, thinking Brad Pitt and Johnny Depp would continue to melt ladies’ hearts until they stopped beating all together, when bam, they tumbled off the midlife crisis cliff and lost the plot and their looks somewhere in the abyss."

I meant to put this quote too:
But not so for Brad Pitt and Johnny Depp — two 53-year-old Peter Pan performers whose beauty, talent and charisma showed no signs of fading — until the last few weeks, when it was annihilated.

It was also weird that they did not file his taxes while they were able to get signatures for whatever expenses they need to get paid. Depp is not a financial person and it seems like he is not able to keep track of his dealings, and I'd think this is why he hired TMG to make sure someone is staying on top of these things for him, no?

This is what I was thinking. Yes, he's spending a lot of money, but he aalso made a lot of money. The late filings, the wonky loan, some of the other stuff - it just seems like TMG was taking advantage and they should be held accountable for that.

Exactly. A company would not have stayed that long if they knew he was bankrupt at the beginning and does not listen to them given a year's cycle. I think there's more to this than TMG is telling. The part where Depp says they only give him the signature portion could possibly be true, yes it is stupid of him to trust that way but it doesn't seem like TMG was acting in good intentions as well.

This is funny and pretty darned accurate. I hope Keanu doesn't come anywhere near those other two. I don't want him catching that!

He's hoping money can buy him happiness. Clearly, it's not working.

I feel bad for him.
He lived with Hunter s Thompson for many years so that he could accurately protray him in Fear and Loathing. Maybe that rubbed off too much.

First fell in love with him during 21 Jump Street and haven't stopped being his fan.

He was blowing 30K a month on alcohol - that's crazy, that's excessive, that's beyond gluttonous.

And he is shocked, SHOCKED that his money ran out. Ugh, save the acting for the movies Depp.

yes, but if you make millions.....millions.... 30k isn't that much.

Compare that to the kardasians. They spend on private jets (more than one), and other gluttonous things (doesn't kylie have a handbag collection in excess of a million dollars?) and they aren't going broke. That's because compared to what they bring in, it's reasonable. I think the same thing with Depp. You have to put it into perspective of what he earns.

I never really liked him. He just always seemed so dirty/unwashed to me. I liked 21 jump street but seriously, yes he is rich but in all other ways he is a total loser and deadbeat. Glad to see the essay spell it out so quickly. Would like to know if he was this dumb during his long relationship with Vanessa?

I Depp still working? That's a serious question. I really haven't seen anything he's done in quite awhile. But I stopped watching him when he started to look so....gross and greasy.

I loved him in "Finding Neverland." He was wonderful -- such a beautiful movie! I wish him well. I hope he gets back with Vanessa Paradis. They seemed to be so in love.

eh, but last I heard the Kardashians aren't boo hooing about being broke. Depp is the one who is complaining about being broke....yet, he continues to spend money that he says he doesn't have.

Unlike Depp the Kardashians are always hawking one thing or another , other than movies , what else does Depp do to generate income ?

The 30k wine habit is small compared to the millions in real estate. He could sell something other than his yacht, which is the only item mentioned in the article. But he refused to sell a home when asked.

Yeah, but that's the point. You're making a circular argument. He's saying he's broke because TMG mismanaged and defrauded him out of a lot of money. TMG is saying he's spending a lot. It's circular because he also makes a lot - so he could spend a lot and still have $$.
