And you were right. He sold the yacht.

Lily Rose is going to be fine not in spite of, but probably because of, her dad. She is an actress and a model and her name and dad probably opened doors. Forgive me if I don't feel bad for kids of multi millionaire famous people.

He's got a 19 year old daughter and a 16 year old son.

That's my mistake, I thought Amber Heard was much younger than she actually is.

She i young. . They didn't have kids together. He had kids with his first wife.

I know, I thought AH was closer to the ages of her stepkids than she is.

Kid Rock came from a wealthy suburban family that owned a chain of car dealerships. Depp certainly made a lot more than Rock, but Depp came from a troubled, abusive, and poor family. Wealth maintenance is a mindset that is not inherent in all of us.

Lol, what the heck does that even mean? When you are talking in terms of 650 million dollars you would really have to work to blow threw that stack of money.

Kid Rock simply don't spend every last dime he made. He invested a chunk of his money and he and grandchildren will benefit from him doing so. He is leaving a legacy for his heirs.

Depp has spent it all on himself and appears to be intent on taking it all with him. I feel bad for his kids who have grown up in such a spendthrift la la land - that is all that they know. What happens to them when they are left with nothing?

Okay, so take Depp's wealth, frivolity, and hugely bad decision making out of the process: nothing is going to happen to his kids. They don't have an inherent right to an inheritance. They will survive the same way most of the world survives when parents die and there is no inheritance.

What a stupid argument. It is his money. His kids are taken care of right now while they're kids. How he chooses to use it or lose it and how much is left later is separate from them entirely.

My point is that his kids have grown up knowing a luxurious lifestyle that the rest of us will never experience. They don't know what it's like to live a normal life with 2 parents who work 9-5 jobs. They don't have a clue what it's like to travel in an old minivan and pile into a cheap hotel room for the night. They have no idea what it means to work on their own car, do their own laundry, mow their own grass, cook their own meals....

They can't have much in the way of basic life skills. And Depp is leaving them with nothing. He sucks as a dad and as a human being. The kids will survive but they are going to have a hard road with some very rude awakenings ahead of them.

Can you imagine going from having villas and mansions all over the world, yachts and personal chefs....to living in a crappy apartment and searching your old pockets for change to use in the vending machine? I hope they can approach it like an adventure because life is gonna change in a dramatic way for them...

yeah.. this has happened to many people and they survived. however, it is not even likely to happen because

1) while deep has no cash he appears to possess a lot of valuable real estate
2) vanessa probably made decent money herself
3) the kids are famous and will find well paid gigs (the daughter already has). just being a social media influencer (which they automatically are) will bring them decent amount of cash
4) the kids will have numerous opportunities to marry into wealth

NP here. Glad to hear Depp's kids have their own paths to support themselves.

Regarding PP's comments, I've seen this happen and it's not pretty for the next generation. My cousin inherited a lot of money, closer to $20M though not $650M. He never had a real job, and his kids never learned the life skills they needed. He was dependent on his dad, then inherited the money. Total loser. His kids (close in age to me) grew up with a very luxurious lifestyle, but unlike most wealthy people, they never learned how to be in any sort of business. They never even connected the dots for how their lifestyle was paid for. Cars, houses, luxury vacations, etc. just appeared.

My cousin died, and his wife immediately got a new boyfriend/gold digger who started spending her money with wild abandon. She cut off her kids financially to appease her new boyfriend, and now these kids have no clue how to fend for themselves. Their parents had supported them and their spouses, and now they're on their own. The youngest wasn't married yet so she married a wealthy man, but the other two are really struggling. One married a loafer without a real job who expected to be supproted by her parents, so now she got a job as a teacher and is supporting her husband and kids. She never expected to have to use her degree and it's been a kick in the teeth for her to have to learn how to pay for things, budget, etc. The other one married an underachiever too and now they beg both sets of parents for crumbs to get by. Both sets of parents attach a lot of strings for any support so these are very controlling, dysfunctional relationships.

I feel bad for them. It's a goal of mine to ensure my kids learn how to take care of themselves. I doubt Johnny Depp was able to pass along these life skills that he doesn't have himself. I wish his kids well.

Well Lily Rose is gorgeous and will likely continue to make a nice living modeling and even just getting paid to show up for stuff and hang out ("appearances"). Her mom is also quite famous in France and was making a nice living as a pop star and actress even before Johnny came along.

The kids should be fine if they managed to get an inkling of common sense. I think Johnny had a very unstable childhood and then as an adult had endless people saying yes to him so he didn't have to ever grow up and deal with it like the rest of us.

I met Johnny Depp about 25 years ago when he was in his heyday and dating Kate Moss. She was with him. I was a chubby and awkward teen with zero sophistication. I adored him though and waited a long while to meet him when he was in my town for an event. When he emerged, I made a rambling joke about how “I wasn’t cool enough to be invited to the event so sorry if it was weird to wait outside for him but I just loved him.” I’m embarrassed for myself in retrospect. But he leaned in and told me he wasn’t cool either so “don’t be fooled” —and also “cool is overrated.” Then he gave me a big hug. He said all of that in front of Kate, who smiled and seemed sweet too. Anyway, he was lovely and kind and I wish him well.

Lily Rose is pretty. Her mom is looking sort of haggard these days from the pictures I've seen. I'm not seeing the star appeal there but I'll take your word for it that's she's working and making big money.

Their son is young and has not come into is own, yet. He apparently had some sort of healthy emergency although I don't think that the details of what happened have been released. I do hope he's o.k.

Nobody is wishing bad things on these kids or on Depp, himself. But he is well past the height of his career and with all of those properties that he owns, his expenses must be through the roof. Somethings got to give....
