DW had a panic attack, cancelled her plane ticket and is refusing to go on a planned holiday.

She’s my height and already 2 lbs under my goal weight. Either you’re the wife posting as the husband or you’re furthering her unhealthy attitude towards her body.

This IG model, how long has she been relevant? Given your wife would receive these compliments 2-3 years ago, before DS, the timeline is odd to me. What 33 year old wants to be compared to an 18 year old? And is proud of it?

So true.

+1. This body type on a short frame? You'd have to fight it HARD.

The dm person is 23 and struggles with her weight. OP's wife is 38 and had a baby. Her body is never going to look like that again without surgical intervention.

Who CARES? OP's wife needs to focus on her value as a human being. Building that up front scratch at 38 when you had previously only conceptualized your value as beauty is no small feat. But it is the only way forward. None of you pointing out that OP's wife might never return to her previous body or attractiveness level are really not being helpful.

Oh white women ::shakes head::

Hell, I will go in her place, I could sure use that vacation... I am 5’7”, 160 pounds, I work out every day and I look damn good, if I say do myself!

Doesn’t sound like your OPs type

I do t think op said his wife is 38. It was a different poster with a tall wife and two kids.

It's pretty clear the DM person's body never looked like that without surgical intervention, either.

Your wife has an eating disorder. My daughter nearly died from an eating disorder. You don't play around with this.

You have to be kidding me OP. 4 pages to lay that troll bait to drop some Kardashian wannabe name??

No lie, I thought OP was talking about two different people - Demi (Moore) and Rose Mawby. I know what Demi Moore looks like, but figured I'd look up Rose Mawby - and them I saw this post. Huh. In related news, I'm old.

Anonymous wrote:So much drama on this thread. Just rebook the tickets for both of you to somewhere that doesn’t involve a beach. Done. It’s her vacation too and she should be able to spend it somewhere she feels comfortable.

I am not sure why this isn't the obvious answer (in addition to continuing to work on her self esteem/anxiety/body image/other issues). If she is resistant to going on any vacation, OP, even one that's not at a beach, that would be a clear indication that something besides her appearance in a bathing suit is the primary issue.

Oh okay, that makes a little more sense. I was the poster questioning the timeline, it would seem reasonable for a much younger woman/mother to have this issue ESPECIALLY if she’s always compared herself to an IG model. OP, she needs to continue therapy, perhaps more than what she’s doing now. This IG image is not unique to her, but it’s clear she’s heavily influenced by unrealistic social media images.

Op here. DW is not 38, I never said that.

DW is 28, she’s originally from Colombia. She has family in Mexico and going there was her idea.

We spoke this morning after she calmed down. She’s ok to rebook her ticket. She just tells me she’s mortified of her body, it’s hard to see her this upset over (what seems like) a frivolous issue to an outsider.

She tells me she doesn’t want her family to see or know what she looks like, she’s the youngest of 3 sisters and yes - she’s had her breasts, nose, and lips done. It’s common in her family and social circle to have “work done.”

She's a mess

Op, I'm sorry you have kids with her. You will be catering to her craziness life-long

If something is important to you, personal goals, you are on your own.

so basically she has no sense of self-worth outside of her looks and its deeply ingrained, given her family and social circle. Growing old is not going to be easy for either of you if she doesn't develop esteem through other things. Instead of telling her she looks 'great' as she is now, how about helping her develop other skills and ways of seeing herself as worthy, accomplished, beautiful that have nothing to do with looks?
