I'd love some of the trolls who insist MadLax and Cavs are "glorified rec teams" to tell us what "real" team their kid is on.

Cavalier at it again. Claiming they are #16 in "the world". They claimed to have a great 7th grade team last year only to see them not even qualify for it.

There is NO way you can compare NL, DC Dogs, or BLC(DCE) as "this area." The growth of the sport is Loudoun. These families are NOT going to cross the river. If you have to drive to Montgomery Co to practice you might as well go to Baltimore. DC dogs, NL, DCE are MD teams which have players that will play HS is MD. There are a few exceptions but these are NOT northern virginia teams. At 2023 Cav's are still the best option behind maybe VLC who they are 1-2 all time. Next is Top Caliber, Evergreen, Battlelax, EKLC and the rest.

Cavs 23 lost to VLC the last two times and the final time wasn't even close. Since then, they've lost 3-4 of their best players.

Cavs 24 got pounded by VLC as well. It used to be that Cavs players would leave for other clubs at HS. Now it is happening at the MS level.

Why would you not consult with a Cavs 23 parent before posting such a dumb comment?

If you are not a Cavs parent why do you care? Nothing untrue about my post. Cav's are 1-2 lifetime v. VLC 2023, Cav's are still the top two in N.VA at 2023. Lost a few players but still best team in Loudoun.

Why is this still be argued?

Most of the top middle school players on Cavs will leave and go to either VLC or Blackwolf. End of story. It's been happening for years, and unless things drastically change that trend will continue.

The level of tournaments and exposure Cavs HS teams get vs. the competition are on different levels. Winning trophies at Shore Wars is not the same as winning at Crabfeast or Big4. You're talking B level teams vs. the best teams in the country. College coaches flock to the tournaments that have the talent. If your son wants to play at that level, obviously you need to be on those teams that compete at those events. Cavs neither participates and/or gets invited to play.

Cavs run a good program and are fantastic for the sport and growth of the game in LoCo. Don't confuse that with elite level lacrosse.

You are living in the past about tournaments. Later recruiting cycle changes everything. If a player is good enough he can attend prospect day, showcases, UA team and he will get looks. There are only a few top D1 players in NOVA each year. Most could have played in any club and still get noticed if they are good enough. Most will go to private lower D1, D2, and D3 from BW, VLC, and Cav. Landscape is always changing and players should play where they are most comfortable. BWHS is a power house and coaches know the team and program.

The two kids who left Cavalier were huge losses. Also, do not compare Cavalier recruiting with the Big 3. If you look at the Cavalier website, 75% of the kids they list as commits committed after they left Cavalier.

You are dead wrong about the quality of tournaments having an impact. Kids need to do a variety of things to get looks and that includes being seen with the club team. Cavalier gets invited to a much lower caliber of tournament than the top clubs and it has a huge effect. You are kidding yourself. If that wasn't the case, Cavalier wouldn't keep losing their best players all the time.

Agreed, Cav's has it's niche just like VLC and BW, but contrary to your opinion VLC and BW are NOT Elite level programs.

Winning Crabfeast or Big4!!! BW couldn't even get an invite and VLC gets their drawers blown off in the losers bracket.
