Realistically, which cross-admit battles does UChicago actually win?

Duke seems to be the dream of every super smart captain/president of everything handsome preppy rich boy & girl. Honestly, more intense passion for it than even HYPS. I don't see smart teens having anywhere near the same sort of intense allure towards Chicago. And Columbia being an Ivy and in NYC has to also put it over non-Ivy in a tier II major city (in the Midwest no less) UC.

That said, UC is only going to get better. I like their efforts to make the College less weird. Not that they should lose all of their identity but it largely seemed weird/abrasive for the sake of being "different" during my time on campus, which is just desperate and pretentious.

You seem to think being mainstream is a proxy for quality.

UChicago has always been excellent, from an academic standpoint. You just didn't like it when it was also known for being quirky and eschewing things that universities usually use to attract students, like Division I athletics.

Also, you're not using acronyms properly. UC normally means University of California schools. The abbreviation for the University of Chicago is UChicago or U of C. No one calls it UC.

You must be a serious Duke fan Every smart kid, handsome kid???? You know some people don't like the south and a frat heavy culture. And Columbia great as it is, doesn't have a campus feel.

Sounds like another Duke and Columbia reject...

Tier 1 kids don't apply to Duke in our area. And Columbia is not a favourite Ivy.

No way I would send my kid to Duke after the way the students stupidly protested during an alumni event wherein the alums were about to pledge big time. The alums turned their backs on the idiot students. Students now claim they are too emotionally fragile to be punished. No way I'm spent $75K a year to send my kid to such a stupid institutiton. And the Gang of 88 faculty incident during the Duke Lacrosse incident was humiliating to the school too. I see nothing admirable about Duke other than nice architecture copied off off of Princeton.

Chicago is a dynamic city; we're not talking about a rural location here.

Also, the school had a 72% yield last year, so kids aren't rejecting this place in droves.

Not sure what this has to do with the fact that Duke def. UChicago soundly, 61 to 39.

Hey numbnuts, that includes ED results for Duke and EA results for Chicago from all those years when Chicago did not have ED. Those contractually have to favor Duke, so this doesn't tell us a thing, but then if you had any understanding of confidence intervals, sample size and sampling bias, you would know that. Oh Well, I guess you can thank the mediocre education at Duke for that.

UChicago Division 3 Duke Division 1

Chicago is where fun goes to die.
Division 3 is where all the Pee Wee Hermans go to play sports.

Lol. There's no comparison, Division 1 vs. Division 3. Even Chicago women know who the champion winners are, leaving Chicago Pee Wee Hermans in the dust.
