Realistically, which cross-admit battles does UChicago actually win?

Anonymous
I assume Harvard, Yale, MIT, Princeton and Stanford clobber them. I suspect Duke (warm weather, fun) Columbia (top city) too.

Oh my god, can you stop?!

Your trolling isn't funny.

The "battles" where someone ends up preferring UChicago. Sometimes it's a particular program or availability of a particular mentor, or someone wants to be close to certain family/friends and that tips it, or maybe someone has outside interests like American music (jazz, blues) to play or be involved with.

There are as many reasons as there are kids who make that choice.

or you have people like my sister who (shocker!) always wanted to go to UChicago, applied early, got in, and went.

I know, crazy, right?

Oh, and she's about to graduate with a PhD from Berkeley and will start a post-doc at Stanford in the fall. She's not even 30 years old.

Total typical UChicago failure of a life.

The question is moot among any pair among this group of schools since admissions skewed to the early cycle and moved to the single digits for all.

Who cares? What is wrong with you?

Wins against Dartmouth and Cornell. Loses against the other Ivies, Stanford, MIT, and Duke.

you're an idiot if you think you can generalize about this.

My DC too. Had legacy status at two HYPS schools (double at one), but loved UChicago and saw it as a clear first choice, so applied EA, got in, and went. And, as a PP has already pointed out, kids like these don’t show up in cross-admit data. They’re one and done.

Exactly. In my case, I was trying to decide between two types of universities I thought I might like. UChicago appealed to the part of me that wanted more of a purely intellectual experience; Georgetown School of Foreign Service aligned with my career goals. I applied early to both, got into both, and ultimately chose Georgetown. It was a very personal decision that no one could generalize into cross-admit data trends.

That's what I suspect. But Dartmouth is fun and a Wall Street feeder, so I'm unsure they win that battle.

College combat interactive is at collegefactual.com

Duke def. UChicago
UChicago def UVA (4322 to 4315, tiny margin.)

So this thread isn't applicable to her. Cross-admit means a senior gets into more than one school and has to mull over options.

OP might be a troll but I'll bite. My D chose UChicago over Duke, Carnegie Mellon, Cornell and UVA Echols.
