I like seeing folks' reactions to the lists. Swami isn't here anyway. And the first post quoted above that's like "OMG Swami won't come if people are bickering!!!" Give me a break. |
| Then there should be a judge my list thread. |
SWAMI has referenced before that the arguing on the posts and rude behavior makes her want to stay away. |
| Swami here-- I haven't referenced any concerns about behavior, I just ate a bad food truck sub and have been down for the count. |
This isn't Swami |
Oh no which one??? I hope you are Swami. Anyone could be Swami! Maybe I'm Swami??!!! |
A douche on purpose is forcing your poor 5/6 year old to learn mandarin when the other kids have been studying it for two years. "MAKE MOMMY PROUD G-D DANGIT!!!!!! YOU LOVED DCPS SPANISH CAMP AND THAT IS THE SAME THING!!!!!!" |
|
Seriously, people do this all the time. Calm down. |
Possibly but it still doesn't mean it's a good idea. |
Mundo Verde adds two full classrooms at K. It isn't just a possibility. You don't have to like it, but there is no reason to call PP a douche over it. |
The douche reference was in response to another poster. Read the thread first. |
Nonsense. I know a kid who started YY at 1st and her Mandarin is great. She's been on several trips to China (with the school and with her mother). She is ethnically Chinese but her adoptive family is not so she has no essential advantage. Nobody shoved it down her thoat. Monolingual is the new stupid.

Obviously it's a bad idea for your kid - and nobody knows better than you that your kid clearly isn't up to the challenge. Of course, there are plenty of children who are, and for them it makes sense. |
Your put-downs are funny. I actually have done the leg work to make sure my kids speak three languages. It is very hard. These parents who put their kids in an immersion school - any school- confuse me. I don't understand how they think their 5/6 year old can possibly catch up without SIGNIFICANT effort- not just a 2 week trip to China or Montreal. You do you- but your children aren't remotely bilingual. |
