The family forced him to marry someone else an arranged marriage.
Things dont add up. You lived together for months at a time - where? In his family's house where all this alleged abuse happens? In your hotel room during your business travel? Are u sure he was madly in live with you and he wasn't madly in live with the idea of marrying a rich American who would provide ample opportunities? His family, being old school in their heritage, scoff at the idea hence their disapproval of you and the relationship. |

Wondering if it was really a car "accident" .
Paid hit&runs happen all the time. The family may have wanted to get rid of him (and you). |
O.k.....even if he is now in an arranged marriage with triplets on the way, why the elaborate death story? Why not tell Op - sorry, I married somebody else, nice knowing you. The dudes halfway around the world. Their is a very real limit on how bad this could be for him. Makes no sense to concoct such an elaborate story. Just break up with her. |
Sure. Wants to get ride of your son's girlfriend? Hire a hit&run to kill your own son, so the GF will be out of the picture. Happen all the time. |
Maybe Op was an insufferable dinner guest. Desperate times call for.......well, you know. |
Just say'n...OP said a developing country (SA) and it's easy to pay people off there. Body is clearly disposed of (why did they do an autopsy? That doesn't seem like standard protocol unless the boyfriend caused the accident...or maybe the brakes weren't "working" correctly?). The plot thickens, Sherlock. |
| I'm sorry but the whole story sounds fishy. I don't believe that the OP is lying but I think the whole story his family gave her is fishy. I also agree with a few PP's who said they doubted he was really dead. I'd try and dig further into this if you could. Can you fly back there and check things out? Idk...whole thing just sounds off. |
| Can you hire a private investigator? |
I recommend The No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency |

THe whole story is strange. I actually understand the mother a bit that she wasn’t thrilled for her son to be dating a foreign woman 5 years older than him. The mom was also right about the babies part. If the family rejected her and did not take their relationship seriously, or viewed it as something extremely negative, they would not bother inviting OP to service or anything else. It was their son / brother and there’s is no formal relationship - in many cultures being someone’s girlfriend just doesn’t count, particularly if the family is rejecting the relationship. All this is of course If the family is relatively well off.
But, if they are poor as OP is implying, they would be happy for him to marry an American who would help open opportunities for him. In any case, I find more things off about the whole story. This does not invalidate OPs feelings of loss. Op, talk to your friends, and cut off all contact with the family. Just don’t engage. |
| Also, all that is presented here is what OP was told by her fiancé, so very one sided. The family may have their “truth”, and the reality may be somewhere in the middle. |

To the poster who said 5 years older is an issue, what is your problem? That's nothing. You sound very judgemental.
In South Africa it's standard procedure to do an autopsy on everyone who dies of unnatural causes. |
