Maybe you should worry about your kid getting killed in a car accident, which is much more likely to happen. And why is anyone surprised that a teacher is doing this? accident

You keep making this comparison. You should stop.

"Why worry about guns? Cars are also dangerous!"

PS - Guns kill 36 people in America every day. It's worth worrying about.

Or opioids. FORTY dead Americans EVERY day!

Let's not worry about guns! Because other things are also dangerous!

Thank Obama and Dems for that.

Opioid deaths in 2009: 20,000.

Opioid death in 2016: 64,000.

Per f%cking pear.

Obama's DEA wanted new laws to fight the opioid problem. Congress blocked it.

WOW! Just wow.

This thread is about a teacher who brings a gun to school. Not about opioids, not about cars, not about Obama.

Owning a gun makes it three times as likely that someone in your household will be shot. Now people want to expand that into schools? Not around my kids.
I'd homeschool first.

The knife around her neck is what really scares me. As far as arming teachers, what’s to say there won’t be an uninentional shooting. Armed teachers will obviously not have their guns locked in a safe during the school day. And we don’t know how a teacher will react in an active shooter situation. Will he/she hesitate, freeze up or mistakenly shoot a student? We don’t need a gun battle in school. Teachers with guns in school make me feel very unsafe.

I can't imagine FCPS allows any sort of weapon inside the school -- how has she managed to wear a knife every day? When is some crazy 6th grader going to jump her and stab her with her own knife?

Teachers will shoot the black and brown kids that make them feel afraid. Just like cops do.

I don't understand how she is allowed to keep a gun in her car during the school day if it is on school property. If the car is parked off school property then that's different. (The article keeps reloading before I can read it in its entirety.)

I agree. I think that every school should have at least one trained/vetted staff member who conceal carries. It could be a math teach, a clinic nurse, a music teacher, an administrative assistant...Maybe the person could be a former police officer, FBI or military.

No one would know who it was.

Nope nope nope. So that "trained/vetted" person who is afraid of my black son in a hoodie and shoots him because he viewed him as a threat.....oh wait, you think training will stop that from happening? Like it stops that from happening in our police departments? Where they have far more training than these school staff members will have?

"It's terrifying when you enter a place you can't have it ..."

Someone buy her some therapy.

It's legal and sane to own a gun. To be afraid to go anywhere without it is weird.

Just watched the video. Reporter says she has "guns galore" and she is posing with an AR-15? Her heart seems in the right place. But misguided I think. So many issues.
If you carry a loaded gun in the classroom, there will be an accident. If you keep it locked away or keep the ammo locked away, there will be NO TIME to respond.

Also please look for the article just written by a combat veteran in a NC newspaper: "Arming teachers is an asinine idea" - you never know, how someone will react under fire. Potential for damage is great.

Is she properly trained by a professional to handle school shootings or violence?

Why the heck is she allowed to bring a knife into school??? You can't bring a swiss army knife into a museum, but she can bring a knife into an elementary school?
