| Yes, nothing could go wrong when she gets distracted and a curious kid gets into her stuff. Because kids have NEVER opened a teacher’s desk drawer or purse before. |
| Jesus what school is this?! |
| I am an elementary teacher in FCPS. I don't see anything wrong in what she said. She is entitled to her opinions and viewpoints. I don't understand how she is allowed to keep a gun in her car during the school day if it is on school property. If the car is parked off school property then that's different. (The article keeps reloading before I can read it in its entirety.) |
Not be allowed by her employer? Pics in her home holding a gun? It's not like it's a photo of her doing something illegal. |
Now THAT is a ridiculous thought. |
| What is the purpose of keeping an unloaded gun in a safe in your car? |

09:50 here.
I was able to read the FB link and it says it's kept in the school parking lot. I think that's a no-no. |
I think that the DCUM Supersleuths need to help figure out at what school this gun nut works. Carrying a knife to school under her clothes? I think the parents whose children she purports to teach would love to know that. I know I would. |
I agree. I think that every school should have at least one trained/vetted staff member who conceal carries. It could be a math teach, a clinic nurse, a music teacher, an administrative assistant...Maybe the person could be a former police officer, FBI or military. No one would know who it was. |
|
OP says this teacher works at her child's school. OP, would you mind sharing the name of the school? |
This what they do in Colorado. I strongly disagree with it, because the teachers know who carries and that surely changes the relstionship they have together. Plus it's highly unlikely that teacher would be able to take down a shooter, and highly likely there might be an accident instead. |

I think that teacher's heart is in the right place. I also think that she is not the only teacher who does this sort of thing. Unfortunately it is now public knowledge that she keeps a gun in her car in the school parking lot and a knife on a chain around her neck.
Something needs to be done to make our schools feel safe. That is what this teacher is saying. |
Many parents w9uld feel relieved. |
Are you at Halley? |
| If she isn’t doing any illegal, what are you going to do? I’m sure she doesn’t care about your “shame” one iota. I hate guns as much as the rest of you and feel they have no place in schools, but she’s entitled to her opinion (and to publicize it) as much as we’re entitled to ours. This fear-mongering on both sides is why we can’t have a productive conversation. |
