Let's assume he is one of the unaccompanied minors who came to MoCo.

Is this something ICE would follow and try to deport him? Or because MoCo is a sanctuary county, would MoCo refuse to cooperate with officials? How does this work? How will this affect Rockville's decision re becoming a sanctuary city?

No fixed address often means homeless. Are you suggesting that any Latino who might be homeless should be investigated and deported?

Of course not, only the ones here illegally. They are called I-l-l-e-g-a-l a-l-I-e-n-s and are subject for immediate deportation now for criminal behavior.

Exactly.

Deport them all and rescind anchor baby status too. Tired of my tax dollars going to these leeches.

The "anchor baby status" is provided by the 14th Amendment. As such, it can't simply be rescinded. It would require another constitutional amendment.

Also, anyone subject to deportation is entitled to a hearing before a judge. Any attempt at large scale deportations will soon cause a huge backlog in the courts.

Gosh, what do you know. WAKE UP.

How is this local since Fox and other national media reported it?

Are you familiar with the location of Rockville?

Do not ask where Rockville is, ask if what happened in Rockville has an impact on national issues
rather then is limited to DC area.

Precisely. Burying this in the "local politics" forum is just an attempt to sweep it under the rug and hope no one notices. This issue deserves to be in the Main Political forum.

Once again, this forum gets more exposure than the other one. You guys are the only people on earth who believe that providing a forum for you in which to post is "censorship" and a forum that gets greater exposure is "buried". You really live in an alternative universe.

I didn't see an updated article about the crime on the Post, but I found one on Fox news. It was a very disturbing read. That poor 14-year girl and her family. I can't even imagine. I think that my eyes are opening to more of the problems with illegal immigrants. I fully support legal immigration. However, I do not want my kids going to 9th grade with 18 years old that arrived here illegally and don't speak English.

Agreed!
I can't believe they put an 18 year old in school as a Freshman, so they were going to keep him until age 22?
Why was he even allowed in school in the first place?
I would like to know the policies of the other counties in the area.

Also, IF they are both undocumented, entered illegally, and had no papers, and there was no way to establish their identity other than self report, who is to say, that they are not 19 or 20? It wouldn't be the first time an illegal immigrant reports themselves a minor, when they are not.

I hope this opens peoples eyes to the issues with illegals.

How they are able to enroll in school is beyond me... I imagine there are situations where kids are adopted from overseas and it would be immoral to not let them enroll immediately if there was some issue with their paperwork. But here illegally? No... they aren't citizens, so they don't have the right to free public education. I hope school districts will start kicking these kids out- this is a perfect example of how unsafe this is. This situation is horrific, but I imagine there are other kids who cause disturbances which interfere with legal students. Just all around not worth it- nor do I want my tax dollars going to illegals schooling.

Curious how people feel about the sanctuary city status now- did this change any minds?

The Supreme Court disagrees with you and has determined that education is a right regardless of immigration status.

So perhaps building the wall will mean providing this "right" to fewer? Maybe it has come to that?

The way to fix this is to deport illegals that enroll in school. The schools don't have to take them if they are aren't here.

This girl was dependent on her community to protect her and they failed her.

DCUM types don't care about immigration unless it affects their child getting into college.

Screw the blue collar families getting screwed by huge supply of labor which suppresses wages

Regardless of age? Can anyone who is an illegal immigrant avail himself of a free education, even at the age of 20 or 21, or 30 or 31? (Nice way for pedophiles to chummy up to kids.) The cost to educate non-English speaking illegal immigrants is putting a big burden on school budgets, and I can't image we are required to provide a high school education even to adults (which, at 18, the older rapist was).

Whatever age guidelines apply to citizens also apply to non-citizens. A natural born American who can trace his American ancestry fifteen generations back can enter high school at 18 as a freshman. Therefore, so can undocumented 18 year olds.

Yes, that's exactly what it's come to.
