Should drunk driving be one of the crimes that puts you at the top of the list for deportation? Should MoCo have cooperated with ICE on this guy back in 2015?

Yes and yes. Drunk driving should be one of those on the list. Chances are, if they are caught doing it once, it will happen again.

Montgomery county police does work with ICE. Why ICE decided not to deport him the 1st time is a question for ICE. MoCo police do not have the authority to "deport".

I think drunk driving should be deported and I think citizens should be jailed and taken away from their family for a while to feel the true impact of the crime.

Do you agree that drunk drivers should be deported and citizens should be jailed?

How exactly has Montgomery County been working with ICE???
Please link your source. Thank you.

Call the local police station and ask them. You don't know and need a link. Omfg. ICE agents are assigned to moco, and work with major crimes. Educate yourself.

ICE has found Montgomery County to be uncooperative, hence Montgomery County's sanctuary status.

For the past 6 years ICE and moco have a great relationship deporting violent criminals.

Cops who handle violent crimes work with ICE.

Cops who deal with traffic don't and shouldn't.

For example: here is a "traffic incident". A 13 year old, girl was killed by an individual who was "practicing" driving and who did not possess either a learners permit or a driver's license.

http://www.thesentinel.com/mont/crime/item/660-driver-who-struck-and-killed-13-year-old-revealed

This was in Montgomery County. None of the articles specifically state the individuals immigration status, although one of the articles states that the individuals in the car refused to say who was driving because of immigration concerns.

Should MoCo police have inquired as to the immigration status of this individual?

How is the immigration status relevant?

If the individual was undocumented, as well as being an unlicensed driver, the individual should have been deported after violating the law (driving without a license) and killing someone. But she was only charged in traffic court and sentenced to only 2 months in jail.

Since we discussed this incident for a long time in the political forum want to bring this to closure: https://www.washingtonpost.com/local/public-safety/rape-charge-against-immigrant-teen-in-maryland-case-will-be-dropped-defense-lawyer-says/2017/05/05/a4806c02-312f-11e7-8674-437ddb6e813e_story.html?hpid=hp_local-news_rockvillecase-625am%3Ahomepage%2Fstory&utm_term=.3dfd16fa5f3c

Apparently this was not rape, but consensual. Still not okay, however we need to do some soul searching whether we rushed to judge because the guys involved were immigrants.

That is your take away? Really? Did you even read the news?

On the contrary, this is the worst nightmare come true, from when people were first discussing this- they will get off , AND they will stay in the country.

They are not innocent. The girl is 14. She spoke to one of the two about having sex.
Prosecutors say the older forwarded pictures to the other and they planned to rape her the next day.
Do you think a 14 year old WANTS to be sodomized by two 17/18 year olds at the same time? On the toilet?
Anyone should be ashamed for thinking that. There is a difference between fantasizing about sex, and being gang raped on a toilet.

This might be more about flaws with our criminal justice system than anything else.

I am having a hard time believing that this was consensual. Hard to prove as rape but not consensual.

Are they innocent from a moral stand point? Maybe not. But legally, yes, they are, from a legal standpoint, innocent if the girl consented -- &, like it or not, according to MD law, a 14-year-old can consent to sex with one (or multiple) 17/18-year-olds. Whether or not you or I agree with the law is irrelevant.

Caught 15 minutes of a Law & Order episode earlier where a young teen went to the police about a rape ... but the prosecutor found an iPhone pic of the girl flirting with the alleged perp on the night of the rape, so the prosecutor dropped the rape charge. The girl was then upset with her dad, a cop, for encouraging her to file the rape.

Reminded me of this case. Feel so sorry for the victim and her family.

Are you kidding? If those "boys" had been white, they'd be convicted. I think it is *you* who needs to do some soul searching.

+100
I guarantee, if these had been two white frat boys, they'd be found guilty and the outrage would be deafening. But since it's two illegal immigrants, we hear crickets from the DCUM regulars.

Reminds me a lot of the UVA rape case or even the Trayvon Martin incident. We do rush to premature judgements in many of these high profile cases.
