This would make an incredible sci-fi movie plot... Alt Right government takes over all IVF clinics and orders EVERY SINGLE FROZEN EMBRYO brought to life using surrogates. These children are raised in a government-military esq compound and used as weapons for the alt right as "savior babies".

Seriously, this is relevant. If people really want to base a "right to life" on "being a person" AND hold that an embryo is a person, then those frozen embryos have exactly as much right to life.

No, they don't. As any reasonable person with an understanding of basic biology (not many people in this discussion, unfortunately) knows, it takes three things to create life: A sperm, an Egg and a Host in which to grow the life. "Frozen Embryos" do not have a host to give them life.

Any person who knows anything about biology knows that a 4 week old cluster of cells isn't "a human" who can be murdered and yet this foolish argument is brought up in every abortion argument.

The reason is that many people consider the right to make medical decisions without government interference a civil right. They do not believe that fetuses are persons in the legal sense of the word, so there is no competing interest. And if there were a competing interest of the fetus, it would be appropriately decided at the Federal level since it's a civil rights issue which we do not leave to states to decide for what I hope are obvious reasons.

And you never will, because you don't listen.

It may not be a "human being" -- yet. But it is Human Life.

So true, and very sad. Young women have no idea what things were like before Roe vs. Wade. Guess they're going to learn the hard way.

Perhaps some of them are a bit smarter than their parents.

Millenials want and have come to expect to have the right to control their own bodies. They don't want a hypocritical moralist (ahem) taking away what most people consider a fundamental right. If you don't want an abortion, don't have one. The practice will continue despite the law. The sad fact is that many women (you know - actual human beings) will die from clandestine abortions if Row vs. Wade is overturned.

Don't even you get tired of saying this?

Please be aware that many millennials are indeed smarter than their parents, as they have come to see this issue from an entirely different light. As technology advances, we are more aware than ever that early life is real, valued and deserves our protection.

Nah. Millenials will flip if their reproductive rights are curbed. You are spouting a fantasy.

Up until I waas pregnant with my first, I didn't realize why 20 weeks is not the right time to disallow abortions. Up until I was pregnant with my second, who was a premie, I didn't realize that being born extremely prematurely may not be a gift.

Millenials who have had children may know this. The ones who haven't may not.

Yeah, people who cite medical advances in this debate clearly don't really understand them. My mom's a neonatologist, so I grew up around NICUs and volunteered in one in college. I know a lot about what is and is not possible after the point of "viability". That makes me more certain that people need an absolute right to make reproductive choices. And I personally don't think I could ever have one except for medical reasons and neither does my sister who used to work for PP (she could barely go through with a D&C for a suspected ectopic pregnancy).

A friend of mine tried to guilt me into an anti-choice position by citing my volunteer work in NICUs...it was flat out insulting that he felt I was incapable of reconciling the actual work I was doing with extremely premature babies and my reproductive rights position. And after having children, he has very much changed his stance.

They may believe no human life should be terminated by either parent.

Because it's nonsense. Banning abortions after 6 weeks is banning abortions almost 100%. Not everyone is able to get up and move to a different state -- the federal government sets minimum standards about many issues for states who don't want to do so.

Just go to a state where abortion is legal.

Oh my. This is awfully easy to say for people who live in the DC area, where we are a stone's throw from 3 states and DC. Not so many options for a person of limited means in the middle of Texas.

Anti-choicers are really uneducated and not connecting the dots.

Also on the House floor today was a bill to ban abortion in Ohio after 20 weeks. So you might ask, why, if abortion is going to be banned by 6 weeks, would they need that other bill? Because they know it will be struck down. And no genius PP, it will not go to the SCOTUS. Sigh. They don't rule on every dumb ass bill. This is pandering and a huge waste of tax payer money.

Further, you can't have it both ways. You can't vote for a party who is for government deregulation and then expect the things YOU really care about to be heavily regulated. No one will be tracking this crap because they don't care - they are pandering. Trump is supportive of allowing people to purchase health care and health insurance across state lines. Telehealth is the future of first trimester abortions. Are you connecting the dots yet? Also, Trump is hugely supportive of making it much easier for drugs to be reimported from Canada. Spoiler alert - abortion is crazy legal in Canada. Will be easier to get the drugs from there. And few will be regulating it.

LMAO. Do you think that frozen embryos are created by putting frozen sperm and a frozen egg in a frozen petri dish? Before the embryo was frozen, it was a little bundle of room-temperature growing cells made from a room-temperature sperm cell and a room temperature egg. It was living. Then somebody flash-froze it.
