Some of the strictest laws in the entire world, in fact.

UBCs of course. Lengthy training courses. Mandatory psych examinations. Waiting periods that can stretch on for years. Assault weapon bans. Magazine bans. Ammunition restrictions. Home inspections. Mandatory club membership for over a year before you can even apply for an ownership license.

Lot of good that's all done today. Or in France. Or England. Or Spain. Or . . .

You cannot legislate your way to safety - especially safety from determined terrorists.

We have strict laws against drinking and driving. Utah has some of the strictest in the US. Are there ZERO DUIs in Utah?

Germany has strict laws and less crimes.

We have we laws and more crimes.

I've made that easy for you because you don't seem smart.

I am fairly sure horrible shit has been happening every day in various third world countries and others for years and years and years that I don't get BREAKING NEWS alerts about. I am turning off all push alerts to my phone and email. I encourage you to do the same. Read your news in one sitting and give articles whatever attention level they deserve. The way these BREAKING NEWS alerts interrupt your day is designed to breed panic and make you feel like you are under impending attack 24/7. I'm not under attack in DC from a gunman in Munich. I don't need to know immediately. I don't need a push alert. The panic sown is completely out of proportion to the risk.

Some of us have family and friends in other countries. So, it is not just all about you.
Fine for you to turn off your alerts. Some of us appreciate them.

I have family and friends in other countries, too. Lots of them. I can't run to Munich and save them. Me knowing three hours from now rather than IMMEDIATELY is fine. A friend of a friend or relative would likely contact me directly anyway if someone close to me was affected. And as a bonus, I am better able to live my life as a sane productive person instead of being a click-bait generating lackey subject to fear-mongering. These constant BREAKING NEWS alerts are part of why Americans have a bizarrely unrealistic assessment of the risk of terrorism and resulting fear.

Turn off your alerts. Extremist Muslims have declared war on the west. Consider these like the news reels of Ww2. If you don't care, so be it.

All of my in-laws are in Bavaria. They were in Munich while shopping over the weekend. The victims could easily have been them.

She's just a typical American who doesn't care.

Probably same person who turned off the news when all those kids were murdered in Sandy Hook. I mean - WHO CARES right? It's not her family. Not her kids...it's just other people who are dying. As long as her email alerts don't clog up her ezines and Tory Burch 50% notifications.

Ah the typical DCUM retreat to name calling. I'm wondering if Europe may want to study the Swiss model. This footage is terrifying and heartbreaking. Unrealistic chances? Is this footage made up? These are real people like you or me getting savagely attacked pretty much every day.

The challenge is...... when we have people who seek asylum here or attempt to immigrate here - if asked if they are a terrorist, they are not going to answer in the affirmative.
Until we have a very good, fool-proof method of vetting these people, I am all for slowing down the immigration process. Even this administration’s foreign policy experts have said that we cannot adequately vet those coming from Syria.
This is not rocket science.

But Trump and his supporters want to ban *ALL* Muslims, not just those coming from Syria, but even those coming from the UK or Canada, for example. Trump has stated this outright. He has even intimated that American born Muslims to immigrant parents shouldn't be here after the San Bernadino shootings.

Who cares? Trump is a clown and his supporters are full of fear and hatred. We can all agree on that. Why do we have to assume everyone is a Trump supporter? Most people are NOT in that camp and can have a calm conversation about the issue without it being about all Muslims. Please stop saying "Don't fear all Muslims" -- just assume we're all mature enough to already not fear all Muslims.

I have Muslims in my life. I assume others in this area do, too.

Unfortunately, most Trump supporters don't feel this way, and many of us non-Trump supporters care because of the real and scary possibility of Trump being POTUS. If you are not one of these people, then my comments weren't directed towards you.

How in the world can you even make this statement? Do you actually KNOW “most Trump supporters?”
Hell, Trump doesn’t even feel this way. Stop the alarmist crap already.

I feel for you and wish the best for your family. I also firmly believe the general public needs to change the way it consumes news. It's having a negative psychological affect on many people. If you don't feel that way, I'm happy for you. But I think people should consider the affect it's having on them and whether it's a productive one.

Personal attacks are the hallmark of a weak argument.

Notice how the crime rate has been dropping for decades in the U.S., while gun ownership has skyrocketed?

No? You do not sound well informed at all, although it's possible you simply ignore the facts in favor of a political agenda?

Actually, over the past 2 years, crime rates in cities has risen. In fact, the homicide rate in DC from 2014-2015 has risen by 50%.

Generally, the crime rate has dropped for decades. Correct.

Urban violent crime rate has risen.

However, you know you can use statistics to support any claim you want to make.

You are the type of person who relies on this means of delivering news to keep people scared and pliable. It's not that I don't want to know at all. I will read the paper in one sitting. I don't need my day interrupted several times with TERRIFYING WORLD EVENTS as if I'm working at the NCTC.

You act like his businesses were corner delis or things with a home office and boxes to be mailed from the garage.

Hell, Trump doesn’t even feel this way. Stop the alarmist crap already.

Oh I forgot. Trump back pedaled on banning all Muslims, like he's had to back pedal on a lot of things he's stated. I wonder how much back pedaling he's going to have to do if he becomes POTUS.

All I have to do is google Trump supporters and "ban muslims", and I see how most of his supporters feel about it.

Here's just one:

http://www.politico.com/blogs/2016-gop-primary-live-updates-and-results/2016/02/donald-trump-voters-dislike-american-muslims-219877

"According to the results, two-thirds (67 percent) of those identifying themselves as Trump supporters said they do not hold favorable views of Muslim Americans... Nearly 9-in-10 (87 percent) said they support Trump's call to institute a temporary ban on Muslims who are not American citizens from entering the United States"
