I know you are being funny but -- not much chance an angry white male did it. Sadly for all of us, there is a good chance a recent immigrant or a child of immigrants did it.

Sadly, in the US, most of the shootings are committed by white or black men. Some foreign countries have travel warnings about their citizens going to the US due to all the gun violence. Oh, I know, as a Trump supporter you are probably thinking, "good, who wants foreigners here". Would that include Trump's wives?

Psst. Do you know where Munich is?

Duh... yea, my point is that pp indicated that an immigrant (or child of) most likely is the culprit, intimating that we should be wary of immigrants. My point is that here in the US, most shooters and murders are white or black men, and if anything, we should be more wary of them than immigrants in terms of shooters.

Wary of white and black people?

Exactly.. see how stupid it sounds for people to be wary of an entire group of people because a few have committed crimes?

You miss the point on every thread. No one is afraid of an entire group of people. But when members of a group of people commit crimes again and again and again claiming they are committing those crimes as a direct result of being a member of that group, well then it's worth noting, don't you agree? Frankly, the vast majority of Muslims who are normal have a major PR failure on their hands.

I think you are not hearing Trump and his supporters very well. Trump's speech last night was all about fear. Most of his supporters are afraid of Muslims terrorizing our country, and they put this as the #1 reason why they will vote for Trump. So yes, many Trump's supporters do fear an entire group of people, and Trump is fueling that fire.

Radical Islamic Terrorists. That is what Americans fear. Not Muslims.
The challenge is...... when we have people who seek asylum here or attempt to immigrate here - if asked if they are a terrorist, they are not going to answer in the affirmative.
Until we have a very good, fool-proof method of vetting these people, I am all for slowing down the immigration process. Even this administration’s foreign policy experts have said that we cannot adequately vet those coming from Syria.
This is not rocket science.

Trump supporters don't know the difference. He's not explaining the difference, because he doesn't know either, and he doesn't care.

You are so full of BS. He knows the difference AND we know the difference.

Np. So then what's the common denominator?

Not skin color, not religion, nor citizenship status.

I think we can all be pretty damned positive the perpetrator wasn't a female.

It will turn out to be a f***ed up person with a gun. There are a lot of disturbed people in this world. The ones without guns rarely hurt anyone outside their immediate circle.

The reason the police were there so fast is that yesterday a guy in the same area tried to kill a bunch of people on a train with an axe.

Um, Wuerzburg is like three hours from Munich. That's like cops in DC increasing security b/c of an attack in Philadelphia.

No, it's more like Albany cops increasing security because of an attack in New York City. #bavaria

Albany is hours away from NYC. #NotallofNewYorkStateisNYC

Yes. But outside of America, we have things called "trains" and it's quite common for people to travel from town to town (and even country to country) on them.

Now shhhh, grown ups are talking.

But Trump and his supporters want to ban *ALL* Muslims, not just those coming from Syria, but even those coming from the UK or Canada, for example. Trump has stated this outright. He has even intimated that American born Muslims to immigrant parents shouldn't be here after the San Bernadino shootings.

Then why does he want to impose restrictions on all for the sins of the few?

They have 1 gun death for every 100,000 while we have 10.1

Also, regarding homicides? They have .07 by gun violence and we have 3.5

I wonder if that statistic is changing now that they have a determined enemy.

Do the Swiss have guns? They train all the time, right? I wonder what their model is.

Switzerland has a totally different model. Their army is based on a militia model, and most Swiss men undergo basic military training and serve as reserves until they are 34. After training, they are issued a firearm to keep at home until your term of service ends. Only about 2,000 militia are permitted to store military issue ammunition at home. Private gun ownership is heavily regulated--you need a weapons acquisition permit to buy a gun, gun and ammunition purchases are registered with the state, you can only buy ammunition for weapons that you legally own, you must have a permit to carry your gun outside of your home, and transportation of guns is regulated. It's just a totally different gun culture, rooted in an actual "well-regulated militia." Private gun ownership rates are lower than in the United States--about 25% of Swiss households have some kind of gun, about 10% have handguns.

Who cares? Trump is a clown and his supporters are full of fear and hatred. We can all agree on that. Why do we have to assume everyone is a Trump supporter? Most people are NOT in that camp and can have a calm conversation about the issue without it being about all Muslims. Please stop saying "Don't fear all Muslims" -- just assume we're all mature enough to already not fear all Muslims.

I have Muslims in my life. I assume others in this area do, too.

The Munich police have said they are suspecting terrorism.
They believe there are at least 3 gunmen.
Reports of violence in other parts of the city.
Police are urging shelter in place.
US Embassy tellings US citizens to shelter in place.

I am so sick of getting BREAKING NEWS alerts from every mainstream media outlet on every shooting that happens everywhere in the (parts of the) world (we care about). I am fairly sure horrible shit has been happening every day in various third world countries and others for years and years and years that I don't get BREAKING NEWS alerts about. I am turning off all push alerts to my phone and email. I encourage you to do the same. Read your news in one sitting and give articles whatever attention level they deserve. The way these BREAKING NEWS alerts interrupt your day is designed to breed panic and make you feel like you are under impending attack 24/7. I'm not under attack in DC from a gunman in Munich. I don't need to know immediately. I don't need a push alert. The panic sown is completely out of proportion to the risk.

Are you trying to say all European cultures are the same? I don't get this post?

Some of us have family and friends in other countries. So, it is not just all about you.
Fine for you to turn off your alerts. Some of us appreciate them.

Some of the strictest laws in the entire world, in fact.

UBCs of course. Lengthy training courses. Mandatory psych examinations. Waiting periods that can stretch on for years. Assault weapon bans. Magazine bans. Ammunition restrictions. Home inspections. Mandatory club membership for over a year before you can even apply for an ownership license.

Lot of good that's all done today. Or in France. Or England. Or Spain. Or . . .

You cannot legislate your way to safety - especially safety from determined terrorists.

Unfortunately, most Trump supporters don't feel this way, and many of us non-Trump supporters care because of the real and scary possibility of Trump being POTUS. If you are not one of these people, then my comments weren't directed towards you.
