We are not current parents but I was so impressed with the integrity of those coaches. They are young and that sometimes shows, but they are 100% trying to do the right thing and that will continue to serve them well. It's a great programs with a lot of bang for your buck for the right kid. I think this next generation of coaches is following the footsteps of Rabil and the other top players who are putting emphasis on giving back and personal integrity. You reap what you sow. |
On my post I stated that it was not an issue for several of the top players and the parents that I know of. This is true it was not a factor in the decision for these kids and parents. I cannot speak for all only the ones I know and they are top players who would have been top players on the Capital team but never attended a tryout. The players played for other teams for the other reasons I listed and the deadspin article or the owner were NOT a factor at all. The practice location and growth of other programs along with fewer players in the area is a much bigger factor. The players from five years ago are now in college. Most parents do not find five year old articles on deadspin. Location, cost, and roster size are larger issues. Parents should know who is taking care of their kids. |
That team went on to win the NPYLL against archrival Crabs. They were loaded. Trippi, Rock, Johnson, Smith, Peele. All now playing in the Big10 or ACC. A bunch of others playing in college, too. Maddux was miked up and gave a stirring speech before the final, which led to an immediate Madlax goal by the face off team. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HHxzevC3QsI |
Keep living those glory years, dad. You are actually talking about a MS game from 5+ years ago? You swallowed your integrity and gave your money to a guy who threatens his own clients (many more besides the family in that email). Some do the same, but many more have said they will not go to Madlax and pick one of the comparable/better options. Great to know you watch that youtube video every day. I'm sure you are Madlax for Life. |
False equivalency - everyone makes mistakes so there's nothing to forgive and everything to forget? Interesting perspective and nice use of deflection and distraction. CM graduated hundreds of kids - so I guess the kids and parents had a minor role in that result? Looking at the vid, ML beat VLC by 1 goal and the Crabs by 2 goals 5 years ago with a loaded team. So totally worth overlooking lack of self-control and good judgment, especially if a motivational speech is what really made the difference in scoring off a face off - never be seen that in a game before. Don't need to beat a dead horse - great to forgive if bad behavior hasn't continued but let's not be unaware of what happened. |
Wow. Been watching this. Really need to move on. This negativity will shorten your life. If you have moral outrage, call the guy up and demand or request a meeting about his purported conduct. Get it behind you. Don’t stew and post on a chat board anonymously to try to undermine the guy. That’s not different in degree than what you claim he did. You are becoming what you claim he is. This all really looks like parents who have kids who did not make his club’s team. BTW, I watched the video. Top quality. Whoever put that together knows what she or he is doing. Well done! |
Cabell - you make a good point. Folks should use fresher available material. |
And please finish stringing my stick guys. |
Says the guy who constantly comes onto DCUM and anonymously trashes and tries to undermine the other clubs. Eff off, Cabell. |
Rabil? Giving back? Personal integrity? Have you ever been to a Rabil anything that cost less than $150? Ask his ex-wife about personal integrity. |
This is probably based on his podcasts and the public image that he is projecting with the PLL which already has a Head of Charity or whatever. I think it's extremely "cool" for millennial to be charitable and good people, so I can see why a program with younger coaches would put more of an emphasis on integrity. I don't sign my sons up for Rabil anything because it's obviously overpriced. But if some kids enjoy that, the parents are willing to pay it, and it motivates the kid, I mean we're technically not communists in this country so he can choose what to charge and people can choose to pay it or not. And eek that you know so much about his personal life. |
^^ Where's the outrage about the multi-thousand dollar fee that Madlax parents all have to pay? |
The fee is one area that I would not fault Madlax. No one is forcing any parent to pay anything. Just remember that there is a market and choices. |
Madlax does a good job. In any youth sport situation you can have parents who get too involved and hyper emotional. That seems to be what is going on here. Maddux is a passionate guy, and if a parent feels slighted because a kid could to make a team, gets insufficient playing time, etc. it is not hard to take to a chat board and blister the guy... I think the overwhelming majority of readers take it with a grain of salt, though. |
Wrong. For years, if a family left Madlax, they would get a threatening call or email or both. That continues to this day. Do you hear about other clubs threatening their clients? No. |
