Question for Madlax Parents

Maddux is a passionate guy, and if a parent feels slighted because a kid could to make a team, gets insufficient playing time, etc. it is not hard to take to a chat board and blister the guy... I think the overwhelming majority of readers take it with a grain of salt, though.

Wrong. For years, if a family left Madlax, they would get a threatening call or email or both. That continues to this day. Do you hear about other clubs threatening their clients? No.

Come on, people.

Long time lurker here. Seems like one, maybe two, posters hiding as anonymous have an issue with the owner. Get over it, or go see him and deal with it.

The club is filled with excellent coaches who are interested in the boys and their development. Success breeds contempt. It would be one thing if Madlax was the bottom in performance, but given they perform at the highest level in the DMV, makes you wonder about the bashers.

If you are a parent thinking about where your boy might want to play lacrosse at a high level and whether he will flourish, check out Madlax. Hard to argue about the quality kids who have advanced through the program and are playing in collegiate ranks. Walk through Alexandria, Arlington, Bethesda, Potomac, McLean, Great Falls, Olney, DC, and any other DMV enclave--kids from those places are at Stanford, Lafayette, Denver, Maryland, Hopkins, Virginia, Penn State, Michigan, Navy, North Carolina, and many other excellent schools. Bet you could sample the top kids who have scholarship $$ or who got into a school with the boost of lacrosse and 100% would sing praises of Madlax and its staff.

The negative postings are obviously from disappointed parents who may have had unrealistic expectations of their children and never moderated back to reality. One thing about Madlax--they can find a spot for almost every kid if he wants to play after HS--so long as he and his parents are realistic about the level of play.

Just my humble opinion as a lurker.

But, good luck to all!

Translation: MadLax is happy to milk you for $3,600/year so your kid can sit on the bench on one of their 35-player teams.

Madlax destroyed my son when he left the team a few years ago, took years to build himself back up. Cabell is a first class A... I hope his boys experience the same pain my son did at some point, and Cabell feels the pain I felt as a parent for not being able to protect my child. And yes, I know it is wrong to wish harm to his children, but I don't care in this case. While we have moved on, everytime I see a thread with Madlax on it I am triggered back to that moment in time. To the poster (Cabell) who said get over it and move on, STFU.

Ugh, Stanford does not have a men’s lacrosse team. Nice try though.

Actually, they do: https://www.stanfordlacrosse.org/home

Including a player from Bethesda - though I have no idea if he played for Madlax or not.

The Stanford reference likely pertains to Ricky Miezan from Episcopal High School. At one time, he was the #1 rated lacrosse recruit in the Class of 2018 and was committed to North Carolina. He later changed his mind and decided to play football for Stanford.

Stanford is an MCLA team which is technically correct they do have a team but it is a club team. VT, USC, Perdue also very good club programs but not D1, D2, or D3. However as a parent, I would be thrilled if my son went and played club at Stanford over D3 teams like Stevenson, Shenandoah, Roanoke ect... Each player should choose what is best. I am not the other poster but I think lurker must be more than just a lurker.

I'd love to take your money on that bet. And when you list a club team, you lose credibility.

Can they get your kid recruited still? Absolutely. But overwhelmingly to a program your kid has NO business being recruited to. Their sole purpose for getting kids recruited is for their brand. Then again, many idiot parents around here would rather Johnny be 54th on a 54 kid roster than having him play for a program where he will see playing time.....and as with Madlax, it's just so they can brag about their son's team at the Club. Pretty sad as a business, deplorable as a parent. But who am I to say how someone defines their worth as a person?

I hear if you put down a $5,000 deposit now, your 2035 kid is guaranteed a spot on a Madlax team when they get to kindergarten.

Never let my kids try out for a Madlax team. No sour grapes in any way. Just saddened by parents allowing this ass clown to negatively impact lives of kids I know.

The Stanford reference I believe is to a football player who Maddux committed into UNC for lacrosse. Notwithstanding the venom here, I'd guess Madlax will flourish as the top club in the DMV for quite some time.

The "venom" is a normal reaction to Maddux's shitty behavior. If he were a better human being, nobody would criticize him.
