The biggest critics of Langley HS on this forum are Bullis Mom and 1-2 other former Langley parents. |

OP, I think this house checks a lot of your boxes. It is in the McLean Hamlet so feeds into Spring Hill, is within walking distance to swim/tennis club (doesn't seem to have a waiting list - I am somewhat new to the neighborhood, got a spot this year and they are currently soliciting memberships), and is a new construction. The one potential drawback is that most of the houses in the neighborhood are much older and in the 850-1.1 range, so you will have one of the more expensive homes.
FWIW, we love the neighborhood, but my kids aren't school age yet, so can't speak directly to that. The DC commute can be long and likely 10-15 minutes longer than some parts around chain bridge. For me it is usually 45min-1hr during peak hours. https://www.redfin.com/VA/McLean/1308-Macbeth-St-22102/home/9376156/mris-FX9626628 |
| I'd try to find a new house inside the Beltway and closer to Chain Bridge. |
You can certainly find more affordable housing south of 123 in McLean. Decent schools and decent commute downtown as well. |
| True. Anything north of 123 in McLean gets a bit pricey. The only places where you can find decent 4 bd room houses under 950k in McLean are south of 123, particularly along Great Falls Street. This is the cheaper part of Mclean (which is still pretty expensive for what you get). |
The OP has a budget of 2-3 M. |
Oh, then they can surely find something in the Spring Hill or Churchill Road areas. No need to slum it.
|
| Yep, if they put their money to work, they can probably find something in the Langley HS district. It's one of the top 10 in the state. |
| We're in AAP Springhill Elementary. 29 kids in class. Overcrowded. We are leaving. |
Lol Keep trollin, trolling, trollin. |
OP here. This is what I am afraid of. We want smaller class sizes than our current school's class sizes of 26-28. |
Tend to think a real parent would know it's Spring Hill. |
+1. |
| Beware the fake posters on this site. |
You're not going to get smaller classes at any school people want to attend in the area. |
