Try the MD public school board then. |
We made arrangements with another family and swap snow days. All four of us take turns taking a day whenever schools close for weather. It works out really well. It can also work if it's just you and another mom or dad. |
| Another option is to find a teenager who can watch the kids on snow days. |
She said that her husband is a surgeon so I don't think it would be so easy for him to cancel all his operations to stay home with the kids on a snow day. But maybe it would! |

Damn stupid ass inability of this area to deal with winter, you mean. |
I agree. Best for you to move back to Chicago where they know how to clear snow. |
Exactly, not everyone's spouse has a flexible job. DH travels for work. If/when they announce a school closure tomorrow, he will not be able to magically show up at the house and be off from work. I have several things scheduled tomorrow for work that will not be well accepted if I tell my boss that I have to re-schedule due to yet another snow closure. |
No, we are happy with the way we prioritize spending and prefer not to waste money on plows and personnel that are unneeded four winters out of five. |
|
| No one has touched the ES near my house. The street is plowed, but I have not seen any sign of clearing parking lots or sidewalks. CWG says it could be icy tomorrow. |
| My guess is 2 hour delay. |

| Now I'm thinking the rain will wash everything away. Not supposed to get below freezing tonight. |
+1 Simple fact we don't live in Chicago. Different area completely. FCPS also has 187,000 students over miles and miles of area so it is a tricky call. It has been this way for a long time and probably will not change any time soon. Also if you actually look into these snow belt ,cold areas every one loves to say they were from and can deal with snow so much better you would see that these areas also have more snow days than they used to. |
