Odd Mom Out - My new obsession!

PLEASE! She weighs about 100 pounds soaking wet.

If you want to cast a skinny chick, fine. That is cool with me. But please do not show me a size 0 mother of three and then try to tell me she gorges herself all day and never works out despite very visible muscle tone. It's borderline insulting to my intelligence.

And the "relatable" scenes where she's eating donuts with her bff. Please. That woman does not eat donuts. I don't believe she actually eats anything.

Some people (me, in my younger days) are naturally very skinny and can eat whatever they want. Good metabolism. I hate how people assume skinny people must not eat. I used to eat like a horse and people often asked if I was anorexic. Very rude.

Others have told me the same, that they side more with the over the top rich a-holes than her. I do too. Sorry but she’s that bad. Maybe with an accomplished TV actress this show would’ve been good, her character would’ve had the know-how to be relatable. But her acting is so BAD it totally takes the viewer out of it.

Such a shame when people who don’t have the acting know-how INSIST on acting because some kiss up or family member told them they were “great”. The writing also tries waaaay too hard to be hip cool fun 20-something millenial-ish. Only this isn’t a show depicting millenials. Stop trying to be so desperate to shout that Mom’s are cool, just because they wear black nailpolish and walk around in their undies. Get a life Jill. Own you, not some desperado “I want to fit in” version of you.

Wow, one would think you know her personally after reading all this vitriol directed toward her.

I thought she was great, very relatable and funny, and look forward to the next episodes.

I thought the show fell incredibly flat. Maybe it's just me but I thought the lead was sort of pretentious and had a "holier-than-thou" attitude about her relatives. I definitely found myself wanting more scenes with the in-laws then with just her and her husband.

Also, I thought it was really weird that she's so self-conscious about her "lifestyle choices" being different from her relatives when she's been living on the UES for years. I think the character would make more sense if she married into the wealthy family.....

Ehh I love crap shows like this so I'll probably keep watching. Nothing else to watch this summer anyways.

I found the fact that she isn't an actress to be refreshing and thought she did a great job - very kooky but endearing. I loved the scene after she got her facial and was gazing at her dewy skin in the mirror.

The underwear scenes were a little weird, only because I know of no one who hangs out around their kids wearing only underwear, but it was kind of funny. Her doctor friend reminded me of a Jewish Rory Gilmore. Doctor's needy new boyfriend was so creepy!

Thought the spinning instructor was a hilarious composite of overly tanned, way too skinny fitness nuts, especially the "superstar" trainers. Dead on.

I think comedy is certainly subjective, but it seems like those of you who hated it are taking it a bit too seriously. It's just a tongue-in-cheek, light comedy - nothing to get worked up over. Overall, there were some very funny moments and I'm looking forward to what the next episode brings.

How dare you insult Rory Gilmore with that comparison.

Seriously though, I don't get how you can see serial monogamist, typeA Rory in this commitment phobic, "my life is a mess and I don't care" sidekick character. I can literally think of few characters that are less alike.

Omg, "skinny moms", chill the fuck out.

No one is insulting you. But first of all this actress ain't a size 2 or 4- don't know if you noticed but she doesn't have any "skinny fat" at all- she's actually looking more like a size 0 and she has really strong muscle tone, indicative of working out regularly.

Also, no one is saying skinny people are anorexic! No one cares/ has a problem with skinny people!

It's just that- if you're going to play an everywoman who's constantly chewing down on stuff- it would be nice if you, you know, actually looked that way? The vast majority of people, save those with freakish metabolisms, would have to diet and watch what they eat to look like that, especially at her age and after multiple kids.

It wasn't meant to be a literal comparison. She just looks somewhat like Rory and her mannerisms are similar. No need to read that much into it!

Honestly I think the show would be better with a different lead actress!

Watching right now and wow, just awful. Lead actress is just terrible. And I have a high tolerance for crap TV. This actually made me miss Girlfriends Guide to Divorce (missed Janeane Garofalo). Sexy, wacky, off-beat mom can be done – look at Weeds. I know I’m comparing Bravo to non-Bravo, but Weeds had great acting, and good funny writing. So it can be done.

Not a good show.

I thought it was hilarious. You all take yourselves too fucking seriously. That's why you hate the show...you are what it makes fun of!

Most of the complaints have been about the leads terrible acting and inability to carry the show. So were you just itching to make an insult or are you really that dim?

Not the PP, but one of things I liked about this show was that the lead was NOT an actress. She was a face I had never seen before, with an off-kilter style that kind of threw me at first, but really grew on me. Perhaps she's an acquired taste for some, but I really enjoyed her/the show.

I loved the stony, mean-girl expressions on the troop of blonde women the lead and her friend met on the street. So humorless - very Dahlia from "Suburgatory".
