The Stigma around AA parents adopting a white baby

Various PPs have shared their perspective, and it doesn't sound unnatural to me. People have rejected babies that are not theirs (when a spouse cheats), and some people may reject babies that do not look like them. But then why on earth would someone marry someone of a different race, and have children with that person?

Due to racism, AAs feels inferior and protect themselves with bigotry. It's a cheap way towards affirmation. "I'm yucky and worthless, so I'll just say white babies are..." The real question is what's wrong with supposed white DH. I doubt there is one.

I didn't realize there is a stigma. I don't know any black families who adopted children. I know some white/blended families who adopted black and Asian children (sometimes within one family.) I never even heard of any issues related to the race of the children. This is unfortunate.

i think you're missing the takeaway. An adult who rejects a child has social-emotional deficiencies. This sort of immature being should not be raising any children. They lack the maturity and judgment to do so. Miss White Baby Hater would be better off with counseling to deal with her obvious self-hatred issues.

Nope, I am not a troll and I speak for most black people on this one. White people have always wanted black babies whether through adoption or outright theft. We don't want your kids though. I don't think white babies are cute and I would rather have no children than raise a white child. My husband (white) knows how I feel because I really do want to adopt after we are done having biological children. We have discussed the fact that our adopted children can be any race except white and he is not at all offended by how I feel. Think about it: Black people spend a lot of our lives subservient to white people when we leave our homes. Why would we want to continue this dynamic in our homes by adopting white babies? The photo posted by PP disgusts me. No way I will ever breastfeed and cater to a white child. Those days are behind black women.

No, I wouldn't condemn them. This is the first time I've ever thought about it, and I'm surprised by my intense revulsion. Now I understand why most of my Black friends are disgusted by the idea of being intimate with a white person. I never felt like that (obviously bc I married a white man), but I can't stomach the idea of raising a fully white child.

Why do you keep capitalizing "Black," but not "white"? Also - do you have any white friends? Have you shared your racist thoughts with them?

I am the poster from the first page who would never adopt a white child (I think there are at least two other posters in this thread being confused with me). Honestly, I would probably never say anything, but I would be really disappointed if any black person I know adopted a white child. Of all the demographics to expend one's resources on, why the most privileged and exploitative one that continues to hurt us to this day? It would be like a Jewish family circa World War II adopting a German baby. Why?

No, I wouldn't condemn them. This is the first time I've ever thought about it, and I'm surprised by my intense revulsion. Now I understand why most of my Black friends are disgusted by the idea of being intimate with a white person. PP from the first page here. I have no doubt that a lot of white people hate black children. You see it in the high suspension rates of black children as early as preschool for behaviors that whites get away with and the way whites support policies that overwhelmingly hurt black children. I don't care what whites as a group think about anything, honestly, but let's not pretend whites haven't long hated, injured, and legislated against black children.

OK, this is so wrong on so many levels. While I'd probably never procreate or adopt outside of my race for personal preference, it would never EVER occur to me to judge a white family who adopted a black child. Because it is sick, simply sick. Nobody is forcing you to like white babies, but heck, saying you'd be disappointed in another's family choice makes you a bona fide racist.
