Still think about these kids.

I wonder too sometimes. I mean - by now they are of course dead. But, just - how could she do this? To her own children ????

I just don’t understand it at all.

I'm glad you don't understand severe mental illness. Count your blessings.

No.

She dumped them in Darnestown, Poolesville, or Frederick County. Or even under her own house. It's not like her parents were not complicet.

I think about these kids occasionally too. I still follow the Facebook page for them and every once in a while one of the organizers will post something, either an update, a memory or a thought for the children. So sad. I think about their father too.

I can't believe this happened 8 years ago. There was a hearing today to determine if she was going to be charged but the judge wasn't comfortable making a ruling yet so it's postponed until 10/7.

So heartbreaking for their father and other sibling. Those poor babies.

There is an excellent series called "Too Close" starring Emily Watson on Acorn/Amazon about a woman in a similar situation. Harrowing and thoughtful account.

Doesn't sound like Catherine Hoggle will ever leave the psych hospital.

Can someone please explain what evidence there is that she killed them? I can' think of a few other scenarios. Why assume the worst? What **actual** evidence is there?

They were in her care while the dad was at work, and he came home late and went to bed, only realizing all three were missing the next morning. She showed up, claiming she took them to a "new daycare" and sent him on a wild goose chase to different locations looking for them. Then she ran off and disappeared for several days.

From the family-run Facebook page:

Based on a lot of comments to this page we thought we should give an update about where most of us in the family are. First, thank you all for your support for the last three years, and for keeping awareness of Sarah and Jacob out there. We understand a lot of you have strong feelings about Sarah and Jacob. We do too. However, based on the passage of time, information we have, and Catherine's own statements about what she did, we no longer believe Sarah and Jacob are alive. With the pending murder charges against Catherine it wouldn't be appropriate for us to be more specific, and for that we are sorry. We are still committed to bringing them home. But the searches will have a different focus. We hope you continue to support us, and help in the upcoming searches.

Her parents believe she untrusted the children to some kind of underground network for children at risk, which makes exactly zero sense. They're in denial and the husband said she's very manipulative and lies constantly. The detective working for the husband believes the most likely scenario is she disposed of the bodies in a commercial dumpster, because that waste is sent to be incinerated. Hence no forensic evidence.

Correction to the other post.

She was ordered to never be alone with the children. Her father let he be alone with them. He should be charged.

She killed them each in a separate events hours apart and dumped them in dumpsters. Their bodies will essentially never be found in the dump. She admitted the murder to a coworker but can’t be proved.

She’s intelligent. If she is competent to stand trial she will be found guilty. If she continues to pretend to be incompetent to stand trial she will remain in a mental facility.

She will remain in a mental facility.

Supposedly he dropped her and the kids off with her mother that afternoon before he went to work.

Correction: her parents are divorced.

The father broke the law and left her alone with the children. He will say a thing to protect himself.

No. Wrong.

I saw him state that in an interview.

PP, what makes you think he's lying. And pretty sure even if he did leave her alone that's not illegal. If she was perceived as a danger to herself or others, she would have been placed on a psych hold not allowed some loose-goosey "care plan" right?
