I'm 35 and husband turned 39 the month we conceived. It took us 5 cycles and we're 13 weeks with #1.

DD at age 32, first try. Pregnant now with DC#2 at age 37 after 1 year of trying (there was 1 miscarriage in between, at 12 weeks gestation, after 6 months of trying).

At 35, it took us about three months, but that was with charting so we know we hit the days right.

Let me just say that the answers here are mostly pretty fast, which is great and I am grateful for our four months. But I think the answers aren't representative because this is a much more fun question to answer if you had an easy time of it.

We accidentally got pregnant on my 30th birthday- the first month concieving was even a remote possibility!

first pregnancy at 34 (wth the ex)--totally unplanned, ended in mc (as did the relationship, in a way).

now, 38, engaged to be married, went off the pill 2 weeks ago in order to start tracking my cycles (and maybe do the day 3 FSH test) since we want to conceive soonish. I have no idea whether it will take me a month, a year, drugs, etc. It's nice to see so many stories about fairly quick pregnancies, but I have a lot of friends in my age bracket who've had real trouble, either conceiving or maintaining a pregnancy, and it can be heartbreaking.

Several of my friends have had a difficult time getting pregnant (for one it took her two years and several fertility treatments) but they all ultimately ended up getting pregnant and having healthy babies!! So when my husband (39) and I (40) got married in late summer, we started right away thinking it would take a while. We ended up getting pregnant in the first month (had sex every other day around ovulation time) and were completely surprised. I gave up coffee and alcohol as soon as we started trying. I have no idea if that helped or not, but I figured it couldn't hurt.

I was 35, DH was 29 -- we conceived our 3rd month TTC, charting (using the Taking Charge of Your Fertility book--which is amazing) and using OPKs.

I agree the responses on this thread seem very fast -- my doc. indicated 6 mo's is the average for a 35 yo.

First baby at 28 (and DH 31) . We weren't actively trying, and it took about 2 months.

First Baby: 4th month (me 32/ DH 35)
Second Baby: 1st try (me 34/ DH 37)

PLEASE do not read too much into other people's experiences. I totally freaked out when I did not get pregnant within the first 3 months of trying for DC #1, especially since so many of my friends got pregnant on the first or second try. Most people will get pregnant within a year. The second time around, I freaked because I got pregnant too soon! I was hoping for a spring baby and now I will have a winter baby. Oh well, I guess it is never perfect timing. GL to all!
