wow--I'll be the downer on the thread.

Started trying when we were both 28. 2.5 years later after fertlity treatments and a miscarriage we got one that stuck around

I used an ovulation prediction kit.

31, 3 months. I was charting, and we were using pre-seed and the Clearblue Easy Fertility Monitor (which worked first time!)

I'm 33, my husband is 32, got pregnant the first month, not using any type of fertility predictor. I was SHOCKED at how fast it happened and honestly thought I'd have a few months to get used to the idea that we were trying to have a baby.

Second downer that became an upper:

Started trying at age 29 (almost 30)...three chemical pregnancies in the first 9 months. After just turning 31, I went to an RE, was diagnosed with a frozen pelvis, had a laparoscopy, a Clomid IUI (BFN), a laparotomy (the endometriosis was extremely aggressive and came back in 3 months' time), an injectibles IUI (BFN), a cancelled IVF cycle due to poor ovarian response, a cancelled IVF cycle due to uncontrolled bleeding, a cyst aspiration (fortunately minor, minor surgical procedure), then finally made it through our first full round of IVF (the three surgeries, 2 IUIs, cancelled IVFs, and last IVF all took place within just under one year). I just turned 32, and we are now expecting our first child.

For anyone reading about all the ladies getting pregnant in short periods of time, please don't be discouraged. I was once in your shoes. It can be a long, frustrating, (and often tearful) process for some. But once you get your BFP and you start passing all the pregnancy milestones, everything you went through just fades into the background.

Wow- all these responses seem amazingly quick to me. Me:

#1 - me 30, DH 33 - 6 months
#2 - me 33, DH36 - 5 months (m/c)
currently trying again for #2 - it's been four months and still no luck.

I was 30 and it happened the first month we "tried." I didn't chart, but made sure we had sex mid-cycle.

I conceived twice when I was 36. I had just gone off the pill before trying the first time and it took about four months. The second time took about two months. I miscarried both. I conceived again (successfully) right when I turned 37. I waited a couple months then tried for one month before I got pregnant.

I don't know how it happened, but with both pregnancies (I am in week 10 on the second), it took us one month. I was 1 month shy of 39 on the first one, and will be 41 in three weeks.

I agree with PPs who said you might try an ovulation kit or read up on fertility and your body. It took me (28 at the time) and my husband (26) three or four months to realize that my cycle was 42 days and not closer to 28 days. We started trying in February, and I conceived in June (probably didn't help that my work sent me away at exactly the sweet spot for two cycles). I had been on the pill for 8 years beforehand so had no idea what my cycle was - I ended up having three periods between quitting the pill and conception. Although I know four months is not a long time, the disappointment was hard, and I think I would have been better off using a more scientific method than the "shotgun" method we used. Good luck!
